Spring in the Fall

Shirt: Tommy Bahama
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Pants: J. Crew
Shoes: Tory Burch
Earrings: Lauren Ralph Lauren

It's been difficult to dress for the unseasonably warm weather the east coast has been experiencing this fall. If I was still at my old job, which had a very lenient dress code, I'd likely be wearing jeans, tees, and my favorite scarfs. However, now that I'm in a more professional environment, I need to dress appropriately.

I got this colorful, summer blouse on a recent trip to Nordstrom rack, but thought I wouldn't be wearing it until next spring. As luck would have it, this weather has been perfect for more lightweight tops paired with simple cropped pants. To stick with the overall bright feel of my top, I paired it with basic gold flats and dangling aqua and gold earrings.

A Week in Instagram

I am just about caught up! While these pictures are definitely older than a week ago, any Instagram photos following this post will be from the last week or so, I promise.

P.S. - Want to follow along in real time on Twitter and Instagram? I recently changed my handle to reflect my new married name - just search for @heyksquared.

1. One of the first things we hung up in our new apartment were these skinny wires with clips to showcase my Instagram prints! Currently, they are holding all of our beautiful wedding cards, and soon will be holding the cards we get through the holiday season.

2. Spent my last day at my old office goofing around and taking way too many silly photos. Here's one of the few classy shots with two of my favorite team members. Missing these ladies so much!

3. Derrick and I were fortunate enough to spend our honeymoon in Saint Martin! On our first full day, we explored Phillispburg, and enjoyed taking in this beautiful view over lunch.

4. On our second day, we went horseback riding (it was my first time!) and cooled off in the ocean after a long ride. It was an absolutely incredible experience, and something I would recommend that anyone do, should you be presented with the opportunity.

5. We spent another full day exploring in Saint Barts - a neighboring island with a primarily French population. I couldn't resist snapping a photo of this adorable sign that reads in English "You there! I love you."

6. On our final night on the island, we enjoyed frozen margaritas while taking in a beautiful ocean sunset.

7. Even in the midst of running through the Miami airport trying to make it to our connecting flight, I couldn't resist stopping to snap a quick photo of this beautiful art piece. The airport was gorgeous in comparison to the bleak and bleary walls of BWI and Dulles!

8. Once I got home, I got started on making things official - and changing my name! Hitchswitch makes it easy by filling out all the paperwork for you, and letting you know where to go from there.

'Tis the Season for Chambray

Dress: L.K. Bennett
Belt: Cole Haan
Necklace: Erickson Beamon for Target
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Socks: Target

To be perfectly honest, I think you can wear chambray all year round. However, I get the most wear out of my favorite chambray pieces in the fall. Not only are they warm and comfortable, I think they are versatile and can be worn with just about everything.

For the cooler weather, I love to pair my chambray dress with rich brown accessories. In this case: my loved leather boots, and a skinny camel colored belt with gold grommets. For finishing touches and to add a little more color, I added a multi-colored layer necklace and cream knee high socks.

Basic Fall Outfit

Vest: J. Crew
Shirt: J. Crew
Scarf: Target
Pants: Eileen Fisher
Purse: Coach
Shoes: Lucky Brand

This is what I would like to call my basic fall outfit. It's a combination of every woman's favorite items to wear on the crisp, cool days of autumn. Scarf? Check. Quilted puffer vest in a neutral color? Check. Classic, brown, leather riding boots? Check!

Last Sunday, I headed home for dinner with my family to celebrate my youngest brother's 22nd birthday. I didn't know what we'd been doing other than having dinner, but I figured I'd need to lend a hand in the kitchen, and I would be lounging on the floor playing cards with my brothers and their girlfriends. This outfit was very comfortable, and I was so glad I wore layers (since my mom still doesn't have the heat on).
