Walking in a Winter Wonderland

This was the setting at my picturesque little school yesterday. We ended up getting a few more inches later on during the day, but most of it has been plowed away by now. However, it is still only a mere 14 degrees outside (!) according to weatherbug. And while I wish I could snuggle under my blankets and watch chick-flicks all day, I already have piles of homework to do!

The only thing that I know about this weather, in terms of style, is to bundle up! I will almost never sacrifice fashion for practicality, but it is necessary that you do in weather like this. Hence, that is why I will be sticking to my trusty Minnetonka moccasin boots and my wool J. Crew peacoat this weekend. Pin It

Date Night!

Headband: Goody, from Target

Earrings: Stolen from my Mom

Necklace: Boutique in France
Cardigan: Old Navy
Camisole: Victoria's Secret
Wristlet: Coach
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
I am super excited that I finally am getting a chance to use my new wristlet! I love how the springy color adds such a great burst of fun into this outfit. Anyways, tonight I am going out with my boyfriend to see the Book of Eli, so I just wanted a casual movie outfit. I was actually inspired this morning by my roommate, who first decided to pair black with gray today. I think they always look really polished together, because they are both neutrals.

lace, gold, and vintage

Shirt: Forever 21, gift
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: BCBGirls
Bracelet: hand-me down from my grandma, vintage
This outfit completely proves that even if you wake-up late as I did today, with 15 minutes to get ready, you still have plenty of time to arrange a cute looking outfit. Overall, I really like how this look came together. I think it looks very classic, polished, and chic. However, what really makes the outfit are the boots-bought at Macy's for a steal. (30 bucks!) Recently, I have been wearing them with almost everything. The rustic brown color gives any outfit a classic touch. Plus, they are just wide enough to be able to neatly tuck your favorite skinny jeans into.

And that's all for today! The first week back at school is complete, considering I no longer have class on Friday-woohoo!

second day of class!

T- Shirt: Tory Burch
Pants: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Coach
Headband (not shown): Juicy Couture
Today was the second day of classes, and I really wanted to wear something cute but still serious looking for class. Shown above, is the result which I actually kind of like. I feel very nautical because of the stripes in the shirt. Side note, I am pretty sure skinny stripes are my favorite trend right now. I have always heard never to wear horizontal stripes, as it will just make you look bigger than you are, but I love the preppy flair they add to any outfit.

Also, I am very sorry for the poor photo quality. I have been too busy with the start of a new semester to find someone to take my picture. Plus, I still can't figure out the self-timer quite yet on my new digital camera, hopefully I will figure it out very soon.

A Cut to Dye for

So, after about being a month overdue, I finally got a got a trim and my roots touched up. Shown above is the result, me looking super happy/ psycho. Anyways, I always feel so refreshed and polished after getting my hair done, nothing can beat the feeling.

More shots of my hair...

No daily outfit post today. I spent almost all of today packing to go back to school tomorrow (eeee!), so I wasn't wearing anything super cute. I can't wait to go back to school though! Since I won't have to work anymore, I will finally get to wear all the new clothes I bought in NYC. Hooray!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Sequins, Stripes, and Silver

Cardigan: Old Navy
T-Shirt: I.N.C (stolen from moms closet...)
Belt: Target
Pants: Delia's
Shoes: Coach
Headband: BCBG Max Azria (bought at the outlet's on Monday!)
Bag: Guess
I'm not doing too much today, just running some errands and hanging out around the house. I have been really struggling to think of cute outfit combinations lately, I think it is because I am sick of the small amount of clothing I brought home to wear over the break. Hence, the borrowing from my mom's closet. However, just two more days til I am back school, and reunited with all my clothes again.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

First Daily Look!

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
T- Shirt: American Eagle
Pants: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Coach
Bag (not shown): Longchamp
So today I was meeting with some of my friends from high school to make french toast. (yum!) I wanted my outfit to be pretty comfortable and casual since I didn't want to get my clothes dirty. (which actually could have happened because there was a small grape war...) Plus, I knew we were just going to be lounging around, so I didnt want to wear anything too fuss-fuss.

Overall, I really like this outfit. Its nothing too special, but I love the look of navy blue and hot pink in this look. It always feels so fresh and nautical. Also, I love these new shoes which I got in NYC a couple of weeks ago. The patent leather and bow give them such a girlish vibe.

Queenstown Outlets!

Today, as a VERY late Christmas and Birthday present, my dad took me to one of the Prime Outlet shopping centers. The one we went to was in Queenstown, Maryland, which is just a couple of miles from Annapolis.

Now in my opinion, there is nothing better than outlet shopping. I love a good deal, and I think there is almost no reason to pay full price for clothes. So to me, outlets are the best of both worlds; designer brands and quality pieces at affordable prices.
Today, I scored a couple of practical pieces that I know I will definitely get my use out of.
Exhibit A:

I got this smooth as butter leather wallet from Coach for quite the steal-$98.00! With about a million slots for credit cards, two pockets for cash, and a large slot for change, I know it is going to be sometime before I outgrow this wallet. Another plus, the black leather will go with every handbag I own, and it will always look timeless.
Exhibit B:

Okay, maybe this wasn't so practical, but I also nabbed this shiny aqua wristlet from Coach. As a college student, my wristlet contains basically my life, and it has just enough room for all of the essentials: ID, money, cell phone, and keys. This new addition to my collection is going to be perfect come spring time, paired with royal purple, lime green, and white. Plus, I love how this can't easily be identified as Coach. Any true Coach aficionado would recognize this in a heartbeat, but it's not blatant or tacky. In addition, the pop of bright green on the inside is going to my brighten my day every time I open it.
Also at the outlets, I bought black dress pants, two leather headbands, and two tee-shirts. In general, all basics that I know will easily fit in with the rest of my wardrobe.
Overall, today was a great day. I can't wait to incorporate my new pieces into outfits!

Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my blog, sequins and pearls. My name is Katrina, and I am a sophomore at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and I have a passion for all aspects of fashion. I am very new to blogging, so don't expect too much out of this. However, I am hoping to learn A LOT from writing this, so we'll see how it goes. Here are my goals in writing this:

1. Practice writing. As I am still not entirely sure as to what I want to do when i receive my degree, I am hoping this will help me find out if writing is really for me. I am completely open to criticism about my writing, as long as it is constructive.

2. Showing others my sense of fashion. In my opinion, I think my style is glamorous and classy. I am hoping to do daily outfit posts relatively frequently, in addition to giving my personal tips and thoughts about current trends, and other aspects of fashion. Again, entirely open to constructive criticism.

3. Learn more about fashion through reading of other blogs.

4. Be more confident in what I wear. There is no reason that anyone should ever dictate what you decide to wear, for any reason. You know those people that say stuff like, "Why are you so dressed up?" They totally bring me down. Why shouldn't I be dressed up? Live every day like its your last, right? Why does it matter to you if I just choose to live mine fashionably?

5. Have fun! I hope I am going to like writing this blog, and I hope whoever reads this, enjoys it!

Well, I think that is all I got for now. Look for in the next coming weeks more postings (time permitting) about my thoughts on fashion.
