La Vie en Violet

Top: BCBGeneration
Pants: Naf Naf
Shoes:Steve Madden
Sunglasses: Target
Belt(underneath): Gap
Earrings: gift, and piercing pagoda
First of all, I love the spring! (Well okay, who doesn't?) Anyways, I love especially love springtime at my school. All of a sudden, all students come out of hibernation to lay on the quad, flowers bloom up everywhere, and everyone is just in general happier. It's bliss.

I'm not quite sure what the inspiration was for today's outfit. It was supposed to be a high of 65 today, so I knew I didn't want to waste a dress on a day when it could be slightly breezy. So, I opted for this lilac Grecian style blouse, and paired it with some royal purple skinny jeans. I'm not much for monochrome usually, but I think it works here. By keeping the colors in two completely different shades, there is enough contrast to make the outfit work.

Dress has always been my strongest suit

T-Shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Necklace: Erickson Beamon for Target
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: stolen from mom, and piercing pagoda
Another busy Tuesday; class from 8:30-7:50, lunch, an interview, and a tour in between. Anyways, this is not my favorite look ever, but it works. I really just wanted to wear some comfy jeans today and a cute t-shirt because it was supposed to rain (it never did), but I knew that wasn't an option because of the interview.

"Fashions fade, Style is eternal."
-Yves Saint Laurent

I discovered this gem of a quote as I was doing my research paper on Yves Saint Laurent for my french civilization class last week, and it is one I wholeheartedly agree with.

Every couple of months, we are hit with the latest trends, and most people follow right along with them. Whether it is ripped jeans, slap bracelets, paisley print, or trucker hats, most of these things respectively fade right out after a short-lived shelf life. By following these "trends," it is very easy to be "fashionable". However, having style is much harder to do, but it is something that can last a lifetime. Being able to put yourself together in such a manner that is unique and stylish is very hard to achieve, but people will always respect you if you can do it correctly.

Say it ain't so, I will not go.

Sweater: BCBG Max Azria
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Reaction by Kenneth Cole
Bracelet: Sergio Lub

Had no inspiration in my state of exhaustion this morning, and this is what I came up. I have given up on wearing dresses for this week, because whenever I do it ends up being too cold out. Also, please excuse my hair disaster. My hair was really gross this morning so I knew it had to be pulled back in so way, and now it's just falling apart everywhere. Can you tell I had a bad day yet?

Anyways, I do like this outfit. This sweater is one of my favorite's. It's perfect for the spring or fall, because it's not too heavy, but it does provide adequate warmth. Plus, I think these earrings perfectly complement the top, which I love. Finally, I added my favorite flats and a silver bracelet just to finish off the outfit.

Gotta live like we're dying

Dress: Bailey 44
Necklace: Claire's
Shoes: Steve Madden
Sunglasses:Target
Earrings: Stolen from my mom
Another b-e-a-utiful day at Hood College. While I wish I could just lay out in the sun with the rest of my friends and read magazines, I know if I don't do my homework now, it will never get done. Sigh.

Anyways, this dress is one of the ones I purchased at Tyson's this weekend, and I love it! The dress flows and slims over any trouble spots, and easily makes anyone look good. I wanted to keep today's look pretty simple, so I just added one of my favorite necklaces, and some plain gladiator flats. (my go-to sandals for the summer)

Wannabe Catholic School Girl, for 200.

Button-Down: Theory
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Skirt: Theory
Shoes: Coach
Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Earrings: stolen from my mom
I am completely satisfied with how today's outfit came out. I had a lot of stuff to do today, and I wanted to look ready for everything. Not only was it the first day back from spring break, I had my typical classes, a meeting with a professor, and a group interview. Anyways, The minute I saw this skirt at Bloomingdale's on Saturday (on the clearance rack, nonetheless) I knew I had to have it. Once I had it, I knew I wanted to wear it like a stereotypical Catholic School Girl. In my opinion, I think I hit the nail on the head, but in a slightly sexier and more modern version.

In addition, I am loving this new necklace. I know its hard to read, even in the close up, but the writing on the heart says, "Fly with me." When I saw this on Saturday, (again on the clearance rack-score!) it immediately reminded me of the very popular Notebook quote, "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." For that reason alone, I knew I had to buy the necklace.

Target Shopping Spree

While shopping at Target today for back to school necessities, I snatched up these obvious essentials. Okay, at least I had my team member discount on hand so I could make these purchases a little bit more justified.
Bathing Suits: Teal Top and Bottom, Purple Top and Bottom
Everything else is available in Target stores only.

I am in love with everything. The bathing suits are going to be perfect for this season. Okay yea I know- they are the exact same shape and everything, but they both work so well for me. At least I bought the suit in two different colors, to give me some versatility.

Next, the earrings are so timeless and classy. They had another pair as well, in a beautiful coral shade. To refrain from completely overspending, I passed on those unfortunately. Onto the headband. Although courtesy of Blair Waldorf headbands made their comeback a while ago, I'm just really getting into the trend now. I love this headband in particular however because it is the perfect mix of classy and fun for me. The black keeps it from being too extravagant, and the zippered bow keeps it from being too boring for my taste. As for the sunglasses, I don't really need a pair seeing as I have a perfectly good pair of prescription Kate Spade ones, but I just couldn't resist.

Also while at Target, I checked out the new Liberty for London line. Absolutely stunning! I found tons of really cool stuff while browsing today. However, nothing was an absolutely necessity (like the pieces above, of course) so I think I just wait until it goes on sale at the end of the season. And to those who think there will be nothing left- not true. I know if it's meant to be, there will be stuff that I like left.

Anyways, tomorrow I am off to Tyson's Corner for the second time this week-but for real shopping for me this time. Can't wait!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Hello everyone- and Happy St. Patrick's Day! While this is not one of my favorite holidays because I do not drink, I hope the rest of the country is enjoying downing Guinness's and eating corned beef and cabbage like there is no tomorrow.

However, I had a fabulous day nonetheless. I spent the entire day at Tyson's Corner helping one of my friends from school find a suit. Surprisingly- I got nothing for myself! This may have to do with the fact that I will be returning to Tyson's on Saturday for some real shopping with my mom-hooray!

How did you spend your St. Patrick's Day?

Alice in Wonderland

On Saturday, I saw Alice in Wonderland. Although the film was not particularly to my liking, I fell in love with the original dress Alice (played by Mia Wasikowska) wore the minute she appeared on the screen. The powder blue perfectly emphasized her striking blue eyes and pale skin, and the ruffles added the perfect touch of femininity. I am now absolutely determined to find my own Alice inspired dress. I spent a lot of time online yesterday searching, only to come up mainly with costumes or poorly constructed blue prom dresses.

Did anyone else see Alice in Wonderland? Thoughts and Comments?

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."

-Coco Chanel

I am absolutely in love with quote, and I cannot agree more with what it is saying. Everyday on my college campus, I see so many girls wearing grungy sweatpants with old t-shirts, or something of the sort. I just cannot fathom how someone can look at themselves in the mirror when they are dressed in that fashion and think, "Yea, I look good." I understand that people are busy, and maybe have no interest in fashion. However, I think everyone has time to make themselves look put together, and as if they care about their appearance. I'm not saying put on a dress or whatever (unless that's your style), but I think when you are in public, you should look your best. And like Chanel says, you never know when you are going to have a date with destiny. Why wouldn't you like to look pretty for whenever that comes?

Pocketful of Sunshine

Cardigan: Delia*s
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Dress (worn as skirt): Bailey 44
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Target
Earrings: Betsey Johnson
Headband: BCBG Max Azria
Bracelet: Sergio Lub

Well, the rain has held off for one more day. Which is perfect, because I was able to not wear pants for the 4th day in a row!

So this morning when I woke up, I had absolutely no idea what to wear. I started with this basic black dress that I found in the back of my closet, and added the camisole because its slightly revealing. Then, I decided I wanted to do something a little more interesting, so I added one of my favorite cardigans and the thick belt which ties everything together. I was originally going to wear flats with this, but they looked weird so I added the pumps. Much better in my opinion. However, I am not sure why I have chose black as the base color for most of my outfits recently. It's really not like me at all, and I am much more original than that!

Anyways, today is officially the start of spring break for me! Even though I don't go home until tomorrow afternoon, it's nice to be done with homework and classes and just be able to hang out with my friends for once.

The Office Sexretary, Pt. 2

Cardigan: Minnie Rose
Top: BCBG Max Azria
Skirt: BCBG Max Axria
Earrings: Reaction by Kenneth Cole
Shoes: Coach
Bracelet: Sergio Lub
Very busy day- and it's not even over! On the itinerary, class, studying, class, lacrosse game, out to dinner with my boyfriend, emergency hall meeting, and surprise party for a friend's birthday- woohoo! And, I still have to study for an exam tomorrow. Whatever.

Today, I decided I would play the role of the office sexretary for the second day in a row. Again, I got a lot of comments asking me "why are you so dressed up?", "do you have internship today?" etc. Again, I responded because I wanted to, and because I like dressing up. Anyways, I love how this look turned out. Very sexy and professional looking, even though I'm not working. Also, I love how the green really makes my hair and eyes pop, everyone kept telling me how green my usually blue/gray eyes looked today.

Well- off to the hall meeting and surprise party!

The Office Sexretary

Shirt: Love by Design (T.J Maxx)
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Coach
Necklace: BCBG Max Azria
I am absolutely in love with this weather! Unfortunately after today, I know it's going to rain from Wednesday to Sunday-yuck. While I wish I could spend the day outside being lazy and reading magazines, I have class. And two exams within the next two days. Oh well, spring break in 3 days!

Anyways, here is my take on the office sexretary. Although, I hope my version is slightly classier. Overall, I love the look. I the bright pop of color from the tights, the high-waisted skirt, and the demureness of the top. Plus, the necklace really ties all the pieces together well, and looks so delicate with the slim gold chain.

On a completely other note- I love how I have been able to tie in my most recent school work with fashion. For example, I did my last French paper on Yves Saint Laurent, a highly acclaimed fashion designer. Just reading about him was absolutely fascinating, and I actually enjoyed doing my work for once. Then, I did my photography presentation today on William Klein, who was a photographer for Vogue for a period of time. His fashion photography was absolutely breathtaking, and such a great change of pace from fashion photography today. Some of my favorites from him are here, here, here, and here.

Okay- off to try and enjoy the weather before my night class and get some studying done.

Waitin' on a Sunny Day

Dress: Vertical Design by Lord and Taylor
Necklace: Claire's
Earrings: gift
Shoes: Minnetonka
Just in time for classes to start again after the weekend, the sun has appeared! It is an absolutely beautiful day outside- around 60 degrees with a slight breeze. Spring really is on its way!

Anyways, this is one of my two cashmere dresses. They are perfect for class because it feels like you are in your softest pyjamas, but in all actuality- you look polished and professional. To top it off, I added my favorite necklace and fringed boots to really emphasis a boho/hippie vibe.

D.C for the Day

I haven't had time for a post recently, so I though I would post some pictures from my trip to D.C on Saturday as I procrastinate on my paper that is due tomorrow. Hope you guys enjoy!

P.S- Who is watching the Academy Awards? I am loving some of these dresses!

I love todays look. When I heard that it would be a beautiful sunny day, I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me to wear my new dress. Words to live by....

“While clothes may not make the woman, they certainly have a strong effect on her self-confidence - which, I believe, does make the woman.”

Mary Kay Ashe

As of today, I am starting a new feature in my blog- a weekly quote that will usually be fashion-related, but not always. In addition to posting the quote, I will add some of my thoughts on it. Today was the perfect day to start with this new feature because I did not have any time for a daily outfit post, so I thought it would be nice to do a quote inspired post.

Anyways, I think this a really nice quote. I think if anything, that this quote should give us inspiration to think of something creative and different to wear everyday. A lot of the time, people will ask me stuff like "What are you so dressed up?" and similar questions of the sort. It can be hard to blow them off sometimes, but then I just remember- I get dressed up every day because it makes me happy. I don't care what anyone else thinks of what I am wearing, but I care about what I am wearing. Dressing up gives me self confidence and puts me in a good mood, so why shouldn't I be dressed up? Woah-rant over, sorry.

Black and White all over

T-Shirt: Romeo and Juilet Couture
Camisole (underneath): Ralph Lauren
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: gift
Headband: Juicy Couture
Just like any other Tuesday, today was a jam packed day. Class from 8:30-7:50, tour time, studying for an exam, and a hall meeting. Right after lunch is the only time I have to squeeze in my blog post, so here I am now.

Anyways, I try to make my basic pants and t-shirts stand out a little bit more from the traditional sea of labels at my small school. This t-shirt is completely my style, glittery and flashy, but not totally over-the-top. Next, I love how these plain black corduroys perfectly onset the loudness of the shirt. Finally, I added just a little more fun with my favorite dangling earrings and sparkly Coach flats.

Inspired by...Paris

Shirt: Tory Burch
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Eiffel Tower gift store
Headband: Juicy Couture
Skinny stripes always remind me of a trip I took to Paris in 2008. I am not quite sure why, but that is just what it reminds me of. Because of that inspiration, I decided to pair the stripes with my dangling Eiffel Tower earrings. Although they are quite touristy, I do not really care- I think they look really cute. Plus they remind me of my trip, which is full of good memories.

Anyways, I am quite pleased with today's look. These hot-pink patent leather flats give the perfect pop to this otherwise ordinary outfit.
