Words to live by....pt.5

"On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principle, stand like a rock"
-Thomas Jefferson

I really feel this one is pretty self-explanatory. However, I would usually disagree with the first statement, but in this sense, I find it quite appropriate.

Have a good weekend!

Every missing piece of me, I can find in a melody.

Hoodie: Juicy Couture
Tank: C &C California
Pants: Naf Naf
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Lord and Taylor
I love this outfit! However, as usual, the weather was being difficult, so it actually was warm today. But, I'm not going to change. I'm really don't like to change more than once, so whatever I wear in the morning is what I'm going to wear all day.

Anyways, I love all the color in this outfit, I think that's why I like it so much. So frequently I have stuck to a lot of black, and jeans. Honestly, that's really not me at all. This outfit is such a much better representation of my personality. Moving on, does anyone think the hot pink patent flats are too much? Originally, I was just going to wear my silver sequin flats, but I decided to go a little bit bolder, and make this outfit all about the cooler colors.

Wistful Wednesday

Shirt: Tory Burch
Pants: Juicy Couture
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Target
Earrings: gift
I swear, once the weather makes-up it's mind, I will something cute and unique. Everyday, it's a constant struggle for me to think of something to wear. I am sick of wearing my winter clothing, but the weather does not want to cooperate and be warm for me. Until then, I will stay practical and warm.

Anyways, this is one of my favorite shirts, even though I don't wear it too much. In picking out this outfit, I decided to really emphasize the black in the shirt with the thick belt. However, to keep this look from being too neutral, I added the hot-pink flats, which I think really made the rest of the outfit pop.

Jet-Setter

Sweater: Ralph Lauren Sport
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Gap
Sunglasses: Kate Spade
Bracelet: grandma's, vintage
Scarf: gift
Earrings: gift
Today is without a doubt much colder than I thought it would be. Thankfully, for once, I was practical and relatively bundled up when I got dressed this morning.

Anyways, I like this outfit a lot. Although it is not very creative, and not one of my favorite, it serves it's purpose. Also, like yesterday, I feel ready to go on vacation in this outfit. However, this time I was thinking somewhere slightly chillier. Moving on... I really like the combination of lilac and green, I think it looks very preppy and springy-which is exactly the look I was going for. I decided to add some touches of gold throughout-the earrings, bracelet, and flats- just to really give the ensemble some extra oompf.

Vacation Ready

Jacket (borrowed from the rommate): Eddie Bauer
T-Shirt: Gap
Camisole: Ralph Lauren
Pants (borrowed from the roommate): Hollister
Shoes: Sperry
Belt: Gap
Necklace: Juicy Couture
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Today, I decided to add some excitement to my wardrobe by borrowing from my fortuitously same sized roommate. (Aren't I lucky?!) Anyways, these pants are of favorite of hers, so I thought I would try them out- and they are perfect for the rainy day that is taking place today. Because of the rain, I also added the boat shoes, which are perfect for keeping my feet warm, toasty, and dry from the omnipresent puddles on campus. Finally, the last staple, the jean jacket, was added to also keep me warm, and add some additional color to my outfit. Unfortunately, the real color of the outfit- my yellow and white striped shirt- is hard to see in the pictures! So, try to bear with me and just imagine lemony yellow put against a milky white. Overall, I feel like I am all ready for a vacation today, maybe on a yacht of some sort?

Black, White, and Blue

Shirt: Juicy Couture
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Flip-Flops: Havaianas
Sunglasses: Kate Spade
Wristlet: Coach
Belt: taken from a dress in a thrift store
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Necklace: France
Today is date night-woohoo! So, I'm off to see some movie not of my choice, and eat good food somewhere that is not at the dining hall. Anyways, other than that I will be stuck in the library all day writing my french research paper.

Unfortunately, as I learned while taking my pictures this morning-it really is not this warm out. So I'm going to have to throw on some jacket before I go-ugh. Overall, I love the look. Black and white are pretty standard, but all the pops of turquoise and aqua keep it from being too boring.

Happy Earth Day!

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: BCBG Max Azria
Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Sunglasses: Kate Spade
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Another beautiful-but busy-day at Hood College. On today's agenda: presentation in photo class, editing and layout class, lunch, tour time, sophomore dinner, and my boyfriends soccer game.

Anyways, I am quite pleased at how this outfit came out, and that I even wore this dress! This morning, it was a brisk 50 degrees, and I could see the heavy fog covering the quad from my dorm room window. However, I knew by the time I got out of my 8:30 it was supposed to be in the low 70's-and it was! This 50's style shift dress by Lilly Pulitzer is perfect for today, a thicker fabric so I wouldn't get too cold in the morning, and a fun print that keeps it from looking too retro. I added on my current favorite necklace and some basic gladiator flats to finish off the look.

My only regret? It was not until I was at lunch that I found out today was earth day! I wish I could have worn something green, but there is no way I am changing now. I'll just try to be more eco-friendly for the rest of the day, I suppose.

I need you to chase these blues away

Cardigan: Old Navy
T-Shirt: Victoria's Secret
Skirt: American Eagle
Flats: borrowed from the roomie
Bracelet: borrowed from the roomie
Umbrella: Juicy Couture
Today has been an interesting day, to say the least. Although the cold, drizzly rain is typical this time during the year, campus-wide power outages are usually not. Yep, you heard that right. Now let me tell you from my first hand experience, there is nothing better than having a power outage at 10 in the morning, just as you are trying to finish up homework from the night before, put on your make-up, or take a shower. Thankfully, power has since been restored and we can all go back to living our lives in the comfort of the 21st century.

Anyways, enough about that. Again, today I was uninspired, and had absolutely no idea what to wear. Although I could see from my third story window that it was raining rather heavily, I knew it wasn't freezing out, and it would be rather muggy. So, I decided on the skirt so I wouldn't get too hot, and paired it with this bright graphic tee to boost my mood. Then, I added my favorite black cardigan to keep me warm in the chilly classrooms.

On a final note, here is the song that inspired the title of this post. (Original and Live Version) I thought some people (or whoever may stumble upon my blog,) may want to know where some of my titles come from. And- this song is absolutely parfait for a day like today. Hope you enjoy!

Flowers and Denim...pt.2

Top: Betsey Johnson
Capri's: Juicy Couture
Shoes: AK Anne Klein iflex
Sunglasses: Kate Spade
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Necklace: Betsey Johnson (and because it's so hard to see, here is a close-up.)
Today was just another of the more uninspired days I have been having recently. I don't know what is this matter with me. Usually, I can always think of something really cute to wear, but any more its just been a chore. I think it is because the weather is bi-polar. One day its a sweltering 90 degrees, the next, a brisk 40. In my opinion, it's spring. So it should just be warm already!

Anyways, this morning while getting dressed, I remembered that I hadn't worn this top all year, and the weather seemed right, so I chose it to wear. I paired it with my new favorite flats (I love the exposed zippers looks!) and one of my favorite necklaces. I decided to go with capris to keep the look from being too dressy for class, and because I knew in shorts I would be too cold; pants too hot. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this look. Will I ever wear the entire outfit together again? Probably not. But, it works for today.

Inspired by...Sweet Tarts

Cardigan: Calvin Klein
Tank Top: BCBG Max Azria
Jeans: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Belt: from a dress at a thrift store
Earrings: American Eagle
Sunglasses: Kate Spade
After a wonderful weekend, it's pack to another jam-packed week of class. However, this outfit makes it slightly more bearable.

This morning, I was inspired by the happy colors of sweet tarts, and I came up with colorful combination. Unfortunately, I forgot to grab my bright blue Coach wristlet that would have perfectly complemented this outfit, but oh well. Nonetheless, I love this outfit, and as a result, had a completely positive attitude.

Black and Blue

Tank Top: J. Crew
Dress (worn as skirt): BCBGeneration
Sandals: Steve Madden
Necklace (worn as belt): Claire*s
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Yesterday, I felt awful and ended up not going to my afternoon classes. Today, I wanted to make up for the fact that I dressed not as nice as usual, by looking super cute. So, here is what I came up with. And while it was chilly this morning on the way to my 8:30 class, by the time i got out of my 11:20 class, I realized this was the perfect outfit for today.

Side note- this is my first time using my tripod outside! Pictures came out not too bad, thankfully. However, I still need to work on making sure my face isn't going to be blacked-out, and centering the camera. Oh well, practice makes perfect.

Flowers and Denim

Cardigan: Old Navy
Top: Rebecca Taylor
Skirt: Theory
Shoes: AK Anne Klein iflex
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Necklace: Hawaiian Island Jewelers
I felt like dressing really pretty today, and this is what I came up with. This top is one of my favorites, and when I heard how nice it was going to be I knew I had to wear it. I paired it with a simple denim mini-skirt, and some understated gold jewelry to pull this look together. Originally, I started with the cardigan as well, but by the time I took pictures earlier this afternoon, there was no need for it-hooray! However, when I go off to register for classes later tonight, unfortunately I will have to wear it again. Overall, I really love this look. And, I got enough compliments today to definitely enforce that sentiment.

Words to live by....pt.5

"Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are."
-Quentin Crisp

I find this quote to be rather intriguing, just because i think it can hit so close to home for most of us. When we don't know who we are, or what we want to be, one of the easiest ways to transform ourselves is with fashion. When we adopt to that new fashion, in a sense- we can do anything, or be anyone we want to be. Now. Do I think this is necessarily a good thing? Maybe not. But, just some food for thought this week.

All was golden when the day met the night

Shirt: Polo by Ralph Lauren
Shorts: Hollister
Sandals: Steve Madden
Wristlet: Coach
Necklace: Erickson Beamon for Target
Earrings: stolen from my mom
Belt: off some dress in a thrift store
Just another typical school day outfit. I was relatively unmotivated today for some unknown reason. This outfit took me around 15 minutes to think up, and it's not even remarkable. Oh well. It's been a long day, and my dorm is still a toasty 85 degrees.

Something always brings me back to you.

Top: I.N.C
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Sandals: BCBG Max Azria
Sunglasses: Target
Today is yet another sunny and beautiful day at Hood College. However, the lack of air conditioning everywhere on campus is making it feel like the depths of hell in most classroom and dorms. So, this loose and flowy outfit was inspired by the fact that I did not want clothes clinging to me all day- which they didn't. Plus, I really have been in the mood to wear this top, it's so bright and cheerful, and I love the Aztec like print. I paired it with a stark white mini-skirt to really let the top shine on its own.

The Office Sexretary, Pt. 3

Shirt: Theory
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Betsey Johnson
Necklace: Claire*s
Here is just another attempt at me trying out the office sexretary look. However, today it is with good reason- I had an interview today! (And yes, I got the job.) Also today, I had class, and a meeting. Although for those I did not really care so much as what I looked like, I really wanted to look professional for the interview though.

Anyways, I do like this outfit. Although, not the falling out hem in the skirt (which i didn't notice until 5 minutes before the interview...) Nonetheless, I think this outfit shows that I am professional, but I do have a fun style-which is the most important thing for me to show anyways. However, I wasn't too keen on wearing this shirt for the second time in a couple of weeks, but it was the only button down I had, and I really needed one for a moderately professional look. Oh well.

Happy Easter!

Try not to be jealous, but yes, my mom still makes me an Easter basket. You can see I don't have a very big sweet tooth.
Instead of having a big Easter dinner, my mom made brunch- which in my opinion is far superior to dinner anyways. On the menu: bacon, Belgium waffles, cheesy potatoes, baked apples, and orange juice.

Cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft
Dress:Lundia by Lundia Procanik
Sandals: BCBG Max Azria
side not: please excuse my ghost like appearance!
I have been up since 5:45 this morning, and yes- I have been wearing this all day today. On today's itinerary: 6:30 mass, family brunch, heading back to Frederick, and seeing Godspell (one of my favorite musicals) with my mom. So, I wanted to wear something a little bit dressier then usually. I decided to wear the robin blue with white today because it felt very springy, and I though the pastel colors looked nice for Easter. On the plus side, it has been about 74 degrees the entire day, so I haven't been cold at all. Anyways, back to Easter festivities-hope everyone had a good day!

Words to live by....pt.4

"Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new."
-Henry David Thoreau

Interesting when you think about this one, probably because we all know how true it is. Haven't we all flipped through an old photo album of our mom or grandma, saw what they were wearing, and laughed uncontrollably? Just think, that will be us someday, I am sure. Okay, so if you have style (which is timeless,) maybe not. But, too many people just follow the current fashions (and even I do from time to time.) So, this quote is just going to make me think the next time I am shopping, "30 years from now, how ridiculous is this going to look in a picture?"

La Vie en Bleu

Dress: Laundry by Shelli Segal
Belt:off some dress in a thrift store
Sandals: Steve Madden
Earrings: American Eagle
Sunglasses: Target
Another absolutely beautiful sun shining day at Hood College! I say this without the slightest trace of sarcasm, honestly.

Anyways, so you can today I was inspired to dress in a monochromatic fashion, yet again. Even though I swear, this is something I do not usually do, I was just really inclined to for the second day in a row. But like yesterday, I think the reason that this works is because the blue is in such a contrasting shade, one is a rich deep midnight blue, while the belt is in more of a electric bright blue. Overall, I am starting to rethink my disdain for monochromatic ensembles.
