So, Thanksgiving break has come and gone. I swear I am done with what the Christmas trees look like in my house for awhile and am back to posting outfits for about two weeks. I have another case of the Mondays, and I still have no idea what to wear. Or, what to say in my blog posts for the matter. I quit for the time being.

Deck the halls

You honestly have not seen the holidays until you have been to my house during the holidays. On average, there are usually five trees set up. Obviously, putting up these trees takes a lot of time. And when there are only two women in the house of five, it's pretty easy to take a stab at who's doing all the work. Not that I mind, really. It gets me in the holiday mood, and I love the holidays. So, today's chore was for me to set up the American tree. Because we have five trees, we obviously could not just throw up ornaments wherever we wanted. No, no, no. Like the White House, we have theme trees. Other than one traditional tree with a smorgasbord of ornaments on it (seen two posts ago,) all the other trees have themes. Among these themes are the Wizard of Oz tree, Steelers tree, Hawaii tree, and the American tree (seen here.) After September 11, this was the first new tree we bought into the home. The first year it was pretty barren, but now we have accumulated quite the collection of red white and blue patriotic ornaments. Shown above, are a couple of my favorites.

Oh, and this is what I had for lunch today. Wheat bread with homemade cranberry relish, stuffing, and turkey. This is why I love thanksgiving leftovers. YUM!

Happy Thanksgiving

Things I am thankful for:

1. My family who is always there for me, no matter what. And even though we act like we are going to kill each other have to time, I still love them.
2. That I have the best boyfriend ever. I found the right one on my first try, and I will never give him up.
3. For the best roommate ever! You never hear me complaining about my roommmate. Well, except on the days that she is super cute and I am super jealous.
4. For all of my friends at Hood, and at home. Most of us aren't alike at all, but I love that we all get each other some how. Plus, a special shout out to the fact that all of my friends from Hood are like my family away from home. Another shout out to my friends at home for being awesome at being in touch!
5. For my jobs. I know I can complain about Target a lot, and STAR's on occasion, and, but I just have to remember that some people have no job at all. So, I'm thankful for my work.
6. I'm very thankful that I live in a nice town, in a comfortable home, that my parents pay for. I know that I am significantly wealthier than a lot of people in the world, and instead of boasting, I just try to be lucky that I can live such a fortunate lifestyle. One day, I can only hope to pay it forward.
7. For the Macy's Parade being there for me every Thanksgiving morning. With apple cider and cinnamon rolls too.
8. For life. I'm here for a reason, and I wouldn't do anything to ever jeopardize that.

Photo Gallery of some things I'm thankful for...
 The Castner Kids. And Griffen.
The Roommate. (Yes, this is one of the nights she was cuter than me.)
The Boyfriend.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! What are you thankful for?

Scenes from November 24

Well, I'm home for the holidays. (FINALLY!) Anyways, you can sure as hell bet that for the most part I am not lounging around watching TV in my typical school attire. It's the day before Thanksgiving, and at my house, if you're a female- you are going to be helping out. So, here are some scenes from around the house. It was a busy and productive day!
Red velvet cupcakes!
Pumpkin and Ginger Strudel Pie

A good portion of my afternoon was spent preparing the table for tomorrow. You don't think that could possibly take a long time? HELLO! Take a look at those napkins! That's an art form people! Although unfortunately some of them got a little floppy. Oh well.

Look at these pretty glasses! They were my Grandmas when she used to entertain. They were probably brought in the 50s, and are made from real rubies! No joke. Anyways, they are super pretty and festive on our dining room table. I just love how they go so nicely with all the different colored napkins.

A good portion of the evening the day before Thanksgiving is spent decorating the the tree. My mom and I rocked out to Bruce Springsteen (no Christmas music yet, please!) and put all the ornaments on the tree. The first three pictures you see are some of my favorite ornaments. While I have a lot (like the big, glittery Waterford balls and the highly-detailed Christopher Radco ones,) these in particular caught my eye this evening. And yes, I do have an entire box of Juicy ornaments. And by a box, I have all of five. Whatever, they are beautiful, and I will forever love Juicy! Anyways, after tree decorating, we enjoyed homemade pepperoni pizza and old episodes of glee. I love being home.

I just want to go home!

Cardigan: BCBG Max Azria
Tank Top: J. Crew
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Scarf:borrowed from the roomie
Earrings: gift
I cannot even describe just how badly I want to go home. It's the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and I still have all three of my classes (oh yea, including my two and a half hour night one!) Anyways, Tuesdays have always been my worst days this semester, so I was really hoping to be let off easy today...but of course I wasn't.

So, this morning it was very easy to pick out what I was going to wear today. Something comfy, cozy, and soft, and a couple of the essentials I will definitely be in need of while I am home over Thanksgiving break. You know I couldn't go all break without my boots or skinny jeans! Oh, and a over sized cashmere cardigan. T-10 hours!

5th Times a Charm?

Shirt: Anne Klein
Skirt (borrowed from my favorite neighbor): Maurice's
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Belt: J. Crew
Scarf (borrowed from my favorite neighbor): Maurice's
Earrings: stolen from mom
Today was just one of those mornings. I swear, I tried everything on in my closet, but nothing was looking good. So after about four different outfit changes, I went over to my neighbor, banged on the door, and whined that I had absolutely nothing to wear and I had no idea what to do. So, she let me raid her closet. Let me just say- I am so thankful not only to have a roommate who is the same size as me, but a neighbor. Plus, they are both fashionable, but in their own way. How fortuitous! Anyways, I've had my eye on this scarf of hers for awhile now. My mom has one exactly like it at home, but he has yet to let me borrow it. So when I spotted it this morning with this luxurious jewel-toned skirt right underneath it, I knew it would be perfect together. With the addition of my favorite skinny belt and my worn in brown boots, I felt like me again. Fabulous!

P.S- Let me just apologize yet again for being the worst weekend blogger in the entire world. I am truly sorry, and one of these days when I actually get out of my pajamas on the weekends and put on some make-up, you can see what I wear!

These feelings won't go away, they've been knocking me sideways.

Cardigan: Minnie Rose
Shirt: Romeo and Juliet Couture
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Pants: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Headband: Juicy Couture
The past two days, I have been really stuck on what to wear. With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, I've been feeling pretty uninspired and bleak. Just give me a couple days at home in my sweatpants, and I'll be right on the ball again! Anyways, this is good enough for today. I like this outfit and all, but I've worn it before. I just can't seem to get the creative juices flowing this week!

So Old!

Vest: Limited Too
Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Delia*s
Belt: Gap
Necklace: Claire*s
Shoes: Coach
So I really do not want to talk about how old literally every piece of this outfit is. (Um vest, 5+ years, shirt, 4+ years, jeans, belt, shoes, and necklace, 3+ years.) Okay, so I just did it anyways. I mean, I guess most people would find it impressive that I can actually where things that are that old, and they actually all fit properly. Especially a growing teenager! (I grew three inches in my senior year of high school, and gained about 20 pounds since coming to college...)

Anyways, I still really like this outfit! I still feel very modern, and like nothing looks totally outdated. Also, I would like to note that this is only the second time I have worn pants this month! I mean, I have been basically just doing my jean jacket, dress, and boots combo, but this is a big improvement from last year! Also on that note, I'm not wearing my boots today! I think I deserve a pat on the back! Or, maybe just some pie...

Rainy day Tuesdays

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Target
Belt: Jo Anns
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Earrings: Lord and Taylor
I swear to god, it rains every Tuesday on this campus. However, I have been trying not to stick to the hoodie and rain boots look, and I actually tried to look nice today. So this is my typical fall uniform: dress, jean jacket, and brown boots, check. But still, I feel like this is a little bit better than some of my previous ones. Perhaps it's because I am absolutely in love with this dress I got from Target this weekend. It fits me so nicely, and makes me look skinnier than I actually am (and who can't love a dress for that?!) Plus, it has this really nice bunch of chiffon flowers at the top, which adds a little excitement to this otherwise ordinary dress.

Plus, I really like my rope belt. If you recall, this is the rope I used to tie my toga together, so it would fit a little nicer. Since I got it, I've been looking for an opportunity to wear it, and I finally had a chance to try it. Even though there is already a built-in ribbon belt attached to this dress, I thought it could use something more. To keep this look pretty, I added my sparkly purple, pink and gold dangling earrings.

Monday, Monday.

Shirt: J. Crew
Skirt: Marc Jacobs
Boots: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Necklace: BCBG Max Azria
This morning I ran around like a maniac trying to come up with a creative way to wear this skirt. Eventually, I got really tired and just settled on a basic black long-sleeve with my go-to brown boots. This isn't my favorite outfit, but it's certainly not my worst, and on the plus side- I'm not naked! So the whole world should be pretty happy about that!

Get your nails done.

So I finally had a chance to redo my nails! I've been meaning to do it for a long time, but I really just haven't had a chance.

Anyways, in comparison to last time when I stuck with a fairly boring and neutral pale pink (which can still be fun) I gave a suggestion to my fun, child like side through my whimsical nails. When I first used this blue glitter nail polish for the first time, I loved it. It doesn't apply very much glitter at a time, so to get the result I was looking for, I applied many layers. This time, I layered it over this aqua blue polish to really add some pizazz to my nails. So happy with my choice! Pin It

Transformation for Date Night

So I was looking to take this LBD from Target that I love into something totally different for date night tonight. Here is what I came up with!

Dress: Target
Sweater: Nordstrom
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Bag: Coach
Belt: Target
I'm really very pleased with how this came out! I've only worn this dress once so far, but it was styled basically in the way of the first one. (except I had some dress shoes on and I was wearing make-up) Anyways, I've really been craving for an excuse to wear this dress, and I now finally have one!

All my neutrals

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: Forever 21 (gift)
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Headband: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: gift
Last night, I thought of this combination by combining a bunch of neutrals together. Originally, I had know I wanted to wear this shirt, but I was looking for a way to wear it different than the last time. Overall, I think this is a pretty big improvement. I still like how I wore this top the first time, but I just think this outfit is much more fun. Lots of different textures, but it's not too least I don't think so!

I'm really pleased with myself. This outfit is a keeper!

Only on Wednesday's

Shirt: Anne Klein
Dress (worn as skirt): BCBG Max Azria
Tights: Hue
Boots: Nine West
Belt: J. Crew
Necklace: Vintage
I've been waiting to wear this outfit for awhile now. The problem is that I love these little booties, but these four-inch heels are so not practical for 12+ hour days. So, I'm left with really only wearing these boots on days like Wednesday, when I only have one class. I mean, I do okay in my 2-3" heels, but 4 is really pushing it for me. Okay, enough rambling, sorry.

Overall, I really like this outfit! This is only the second time I wore this dress, and I really like how this outfit came out. I have been meaning to wear it more, but I didn't want to wear it the same way as I wore it the first time. So, this week when I actually had a little inspiration,  I got very excited to wear this dress again. I look forward to thinking of some more ways to wear it in the future!

This is what happens when I don't know what to wear...

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: Polo Ralph Lauren
Skirt: Theory
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse sale
Necklace: Charter Club
So, I woke up this morning with absolutely no clue as to what to wear on this beautiful fall day. However, I have my outfit for tomorrow perfectly planned out....weird. Anyways, so in my super-tired stupor, I grab a couple of things that I thought would go together and threw them on. Overall, this isn't my favorite look, but it's not my worst either. I like how it has this really preppy and feminine feel to it, but there is still a tough girl attitude with these boots.

Side note- I am pretty sure these $15 dollar beauties were one my best buys in a long time (other than my recently acquired jean jacket that has basically been in every post...) Now don't get me wrong, I love my BCBG boots just as much as these. However, on 12-hour days, wearing a heel like that all day is just too much. So that's why currently these have been a little closer to the front of my closer. I promise BCBG boots- I'll be back soon!

Fall Classic

Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse sale
Earrings: gift
This is a very plain and simple look, but I like this unadorned style on occasion. Nothing to distract, so one can focus on the simple beauty that is clothing.

Blogger Hiatus

Well, after about two weeks of being such a good little bloggie, I kinda dropped off the face of the planet on the Internet world this weekend. Not like it's a big deal, since I am almost positive there isn't a soul out there who read this regularly, but it bugs me a slightly because I know I should be practicing writing (even if it's only something small,) almost every day.

No worries self, I should be back in the regular blogging business tomorrow. After my getaway in Philadelphia over the weekend, I think I'm ready to return to the busy working world again! Pin It

Rain doens't have to mean sloppy

Shirt: Theory
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Skirt: borrowed from the roomie
Belt: Gap
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse sale
Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Wristlet: Coach
The last couple of rainy days, I hadn't exactly been looking my best. My outfits were usually composed of my black juicy rain boots, skinny jeans, and a fitted hoodie of some sort. It wasn't my best look, but it wasn't my worst either. Either way, I knew on the next rainy day I wanted to have a more pulled together look. I remember when I was a kid, I always would see my mom leaving in beautiful clothes no matter what the weather. If the weather was bad, the nicer shoes were usually tucked away in a separate bag to be changed into once she got to work.

Today, I tried to take a cue from my mom and put together a look that was polished and not sloppy whatsoever. Honestly, I am pretty impressed with how it turned out. I knew from the start I wanted to wear these boots, because they are practically for a rainy day such as this one, but without sacrificing style. I decided to wear it with this theory light blue button-down, and this khaki skirt from my roommate. I love that there is this very preppy vibe to it, which always feels so fresh to me. I tied it together with this leather brown belt, and my layered Betsey Johnson gold necklace.
