Tornado Watch?

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Shirt: BCBG Max Azria
Skirt (borrowed from roommie): Gap
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Earrings: gift
I woke up this morning to beautiful blue skies, and with the Weatherbug beeping that it would be a high of 68 today. SCORE. (except for when I didn't click the flashing warning...whoops.)

Possibilities for today were endless! I get hot super easily, so I knew I wanted to wear a skirt today, but definitely a little jacket, in case I got cold. I knew there was a slight chance of showers, but I thought it would be like summer showers; raining occasionally, but the sun was still out. False. It's cold drizzly rain, and when I came out of my 9:30 class, the skies were an ominous shade of black, and I had a voicemail from campus safety advising tornado warnings. So that means my outfit is back to the drawing board.

Actually, it's going to just about stay the same. I'm going to grab a good umbrella though, and possibly change my flats for my traditional boots. Sad face :(

Anyways, I am super, super busy today. I just made my to-do list on my white board to contain myself a little bit. However, I left at the bottom the ever popular saying: "Keep calm, and carry on." I know I am going to need it to help me get through today.

Ring Ceremony

This Saturday, I participated in one of Hood's longest standing traditions- the ring ceremony. Junior year, Hood students have the privilege to order a class ring. I of course, had to get one because I love this school so much, and I love rings. The Hood ring is so distinct looking, because you can't really customize it. You can get either a blue or black stone, a flat or domed top, or gold or silver. It's not like high school, where you can customize everything about it. Another cool fact? Hood College was the first college to have a class ring tradition. Although the Naval Academy says they were the first, it was really Hood. ;)

Either way, I am SO excited to have my ring. My entire family came up for the ceremony, and we had a nice lunch out with my boyfriend afterwards. Anyways, I can't wait to start running into Hood people everywhere! It's not like I can wear my Hood shirts everyday, but I will definitely wear my ring everyday! Pin It

Put a smile on

Shirt (borrowed from the best neighbor ever) Maurice's
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Charter Club
Bracelets: Sergio Lub and mom's
Yet again, I had absolutely no idea what to wear today. I tried on a bunch of different things, and nothing to seemed to work. So, I went on knocked on my neighbors door, who is always great at giving me something to wear. I saw this top in her closet and feel in love with the ruffles and the feminine appeal, so I knew it would be perfect for today.

Voila- after two hours I am finally dressed! Oh and she did my hair too!! Isn't she the best?

Field Trip!

Jacket: Diane von Furstenberg
Shirt: J. Crew
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Scarf: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: stolen from mom
How old am I, 8? Going on a field trip on a Wednesday morning.

Wrong. I'm 20, and I'm in college last I checked. But not any ordinary college, Hood College, to be exact. And yea, we do take field trips. In my three years here, I have been on many including trips to D.C., the Chesapeake Bay, and the Frederick County Police Department (as of today). I know you guys are jealous- get on our level.

Anyways, I'm not really feeling to well today, but this is what I came up with. Something pretty and cute, without any effort put into it. Love it!

In a rush

Shirt: Juicy Couture
Pants: Mavi
Boots: Minnetonka
Scarf: Victoria's Secret
Belt: Gap
Earrings: gift
So today, I was called just as I was thinking of something to wear over to the admission office to give a tour this morning. Even though we had a delay until 11 a.m., meaning I didn't have to go to my usual Tuesday 10 a.m. tour time. I was still called at 11:30 a.m. to come and give a tour. So, I threw the first couple of things I could think off on, and added my boots because it had snowed the night before, and I didn't want to slip. So that's all for today. Time to pass out and do some homework!

Thank you, inspiration folder.

Shirt: Tory Burch
Pants: BCBGeneration
Shoes: Anne Klein iflex
Scarf: borrowed from the roomie
Bracelets: Sergio Lub and Coach
Headband: Juicy Couture

You know those days that you honestly have no idea what to wear? Cue the inspiration folder. I have lots of inspiration folders, ranging from famous photography, wedding, cooking, and outfit inspiration. So on dreary mornings such as these, when I am literally dragging myself out of bed, I hit up my outfit inspiration folder for an idea of what to wear.

I thought this combination, which I first saw on Jessica from What I Wore (here) was perfect for today. It's pretty cold out, and this will actually keep me covered. The only change I made to her original look was flats. I used to have a pair of black tall boots, but I gave them away years ago (how I wish I had them this season, though!) I thought of wearing my usual brown boots, but they just didn't have the look I was going for. Overall, I am very satisfied with my look. Thank you, inspiration folder. Pin It

Valentines Day Dance

This weekend was the last dance of the school year, the Valentine's Day Dance (and my boyfriends last dance as a college student!). I was beyond excited, because I love school dances (even though I am in college,) and because I have been waiting to wear this dress forever. Seriously. I bought it my freshman year with the intention of wearing it to the Valentines Day Dance, and I never got to. Sophomore year, because of the HUGE snow storm, the v-dance turned club chic instead of semi-formal, so I couldn't wear the dress again (not to mention I didn't get it in the mail in time with the weather.)

So, two years later, here I am, finally wearing my dress. I put a couple of shots from the night that I liked, which were pretty hard too choose (there were not a lot of good ones...) Anyways, the last picture is of me and my roommate who went in her tennis clothes, because she didn't get back until 11:00 p.m. , and had no time to change and shower after winning her match (yay!) Isn't she the coolest? P.S- Can you tell how obsessed I am with her? Pin It

Is it really February?

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Tank: Victoria's Secret
Skirt: Eight Sixty
Belt: Juicy Couture
Earrings: Target
Shoes (borrowed from roomie): American Eagle
Seriously? It's February, and this is what I am wearing. You would never though, right? One of the many reasons I love Maryland, it's bi-polar weather, and global warming. I am thrilled. Unfortunately, knowing Maryland, this is a one day only thing. By next week, it will be freezing again, and there will be snow on the ground. Taking advantage of this day to the fullest!

Spring is on it's way!

Jacket (stolen from mom): DKNY
Top: Rebecca Taylor
Pants: BCBGeneration
Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Shoes: Coach
It's going to be 65 degrees today, and I am super excited! Although I would really love to wear a skirt or dress today, I am just not very inspired by my small selection that I have with me right now. Regardless, I love how this look turned out!

Blue and Gray Today pt.2

Cardigan: BCBG Max Azria
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Scarf: Forever 21
Headband: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: Charter Club
This wasn't what I wanted to wear today. After wearing relatively springy ensembles the last two days, I wanted to keep going on my motif. However, last night my roommate informed me that today was blue and gray day at school (Hood's school colors) so I wanted to show some school spirit for the basketball teams big game tonight. Though most people feel most spirited in a school hoodie or logo tee shirt, I just like wearing the colors. So here's blue and gray: my way.

I love this shirt- it's so versatile! And I love how it looks with gold- very classy and preppy. I am so inspired by the College Prepster, as of recent, and my outfits reflect that entirely.

Happy Valentines Day!

After spending way too much time than I would like to admit reading The College Prepster this weekend, I was inspired to go all out preppy on this Valentines Day in pink, pearls, and Lilly Pulitzer. I love it! After wearing black almost all of last weekend, this is a very welcome change.

I actually don't like my nails.

So last week, I decided to do my nails in Essie's Trombone. I love how the color looks on its own: it's shiny and such a cheerful shade of candy apple red. But I wanted to add a little something extra, so I added this white glitter on top. And I actually hate it. But unlike O.P.I's gold glitter that I loved so much, this will not chip, fall off, or anything. I've had them done for a week now, and literally nothing has come off. Which usually I wouldn't mind. But for now, I'm stuck with it until I decide to do my nails next, which is going to be sometime next week.

From far away, it doesn't look too bad. But up close, the glitter completely overwhelms the red, it isn't shear like most glitters are. Better luck next time!

Design Your Own Keds

If I had to pick one word to describe my style, I would choose preppy. Although my style changes everyday on a day-to-day basis, “preppy,” is one word that I relate to the most. I love pink and green, Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses, Sperry boat shoes, pearl earrings, Ralph Lauren polos, and cardigans. However, as a college student, I don’t have a lot of money to spend on this kind of stuff all the time. As a result, I am always looking for ways to add new pieces to my preppy style, without spending a ton of money.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I found my new favorite blog this weekend, The College Prepster. A junior at Georgetown University, she also has a love of all things preppy (hence the title.) As I went through months of her old posts, lusting over her entire wardrobe, I found something that I knew I wouldn’t be able to do without- customizable Keds. I know what you’re envisioning: those boring white canvas sneakers that your mom lived in as a kid (at least my mom did.) WRONG! At just $60, you can now design your own, and add a new piece to your preppy wardrobe.

So here is the first pair I designed, and I am in love with them! I wasn’t very inspired by the prints they had available online, so I took a picture of my Liberty of London for Target printed scarf, and uploaded it to the website. Voila- instant transformation! For the trim, I chose a light pink, that complimented the flowers on the scarf. I kept the laces white, just to keep the shoes from having too many elements.

This is the second pair I made. Again, I took a picture of one of my scarfs (in this case, a Lilly Pulitzer murphee scarf,) and added the print only to the tongue on the shoe. When I did the print overall, it was just too much. In addition, I added pink shoelaces with pink eyelets, and added hot pink trim. Although these are a lot less graphic than my first pair, I still love how they turned out.
If you would like to design your own pair of Keds, click this link here. Post in the comments, and show me how they turned out!

And so no one thinks that I am stealing information, this entire post is reblogged from my other blog, Colllege Girl Catwalk. This one is more personal, the other one was created only for my journalism class-check it out! Usually, it has different stuff from here. Pin It

Almost Valentine's Day

Shirt: J. Crew
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer
Bag: Kate Spade
Headband: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: Charter Club
Belt: Gap
After wearing black for the last couple of days straight, I decided to pick out some more holiday inspired colors (aka red, white, and pink.) I feel much more chipper and cheery today- much better than I had been doing earlier this week. This is pretty good for me on a Friday, usually I just bum it out in sweats and stuff. So I am impressed with myself.

Same old, same old.

Camisole: Shameless

Earrings: Betsey Johnson
Bracelet: vintage
I should not be allowed more than about 20 minutes to get completely put together on any given day. Any more than that, I wonder around my bathrobe all over my room, going through countless combinations for things to wear. If I had about 20 minutes, I would think of something quickly, and would probably love it. This, is something I thought about for at least 45 minutes, and I don't even like it that much! You can never win. But whatever, tomorrow is a new day, right?

P.S- It's a dress!

Jacket (stolen from mom): DKNY
Shirt: J. Crew
Dress: I.N.C
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Earrings: stolen from mom
Bracelet: Vintage
When I saw this dress marked 75 percent off over winter break, I knew I had to get it. The only problem was-how to make it work in a college students wardrobe. Sure, it would be perfect for a party or for New Years Eve, but how often do those come around? So, I knew I had to make it work as three pieces: a skirt, a tank, and a dress. Here's my first attempt at wearing it as a skirt, and I love how it turned out! Already I have had a couple people tell me that they love my "skirt," but little do they know, it's a dress! I love how incorporating some sequins just makes my day go so much better.

P.S- I went two days without my boots. RECORD. Also, note that I am wearing black for the third day in a row...I swear I'm not usually this depressed!

Wannabe Rockstar

Jacket: Target
Shirt: Romeo and Juliet Couture
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Juicy Couture
Bracelets: Coach and Sergio Lub
Day two of not wearing my flat brown boots....win!

It's freezing outside today (currently 30 degrees!) and it's just going to get worse as the day goes on. By the time I leave for class at about two today, it's supposed to be in the 20's. BRR. So, I had no idea what to wear today. But after thinking about how I'm not really going to be outside too much today, I came up with this ensemble.

Get on my level. (Which is about 5'11" with heels.)

Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Tights: Betsey Johnson
Shoes: Nine West
Belt: Target
Earrings: gift
I wanted something exciting to start off my week. And while this may not be the most creative ensemble in the world, I feel confident and sexy, and that was exactly the look I was going for. WIN.

Look at that- boots that are not brown, and not from the Delia*s Warehouse Sale. I love these boots, I really do, but they KILL my feet. I wish I could wear them more often, but I never know just what to pair them with, and they are four inch heels. I may or may not have black flats stowed in my tote just in case...

Stealing from Mom

Jacket (stolen from mom): Diane von Furstenburg
Tank: J. Crew
Skirt: Express
Tights: Hue
Belt: J. Crew
Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
When I went back to school, my mom filled up a big bag of old clothes for me to take to the Plato's Closet right by my school. Of course, that meant anything was up for grabs for me first before it was taken to the resale shop. When I spotted this navy blue corduroy DVF blazer at the bottom of the bag, I knew it was meant for me. After getting out my blazer phase in tenth grade, I hadn't worn one in a long time. However, now that my college graduation is beginning to rapidly approach, it will be nice to have some more professional pieces stored in my closet.

So today, I paired this blazer with my cool-colored flowered skirt, and complementing accessories in coordinating color tones. I really wish that I would have worn my black booties with this, but I am going to be out all day, and I do not have the patience for four-inch heels.
