Let May Madness begin!

Top: Calvin Klein
Shorts: American Eagle
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Necklace: BCBG Max Azria
Starting with crab feast today (unlimited crabs, shrimp, fried chicken, etc.) May Madness has officially begun at Hood College! I am excited to begin a week filled with fun activities, and take a break from school work. However, tonight I have to work on my communications law research paper if I want to have any fun this weekend. Le sigh.

Anyway, I got this top a couple of weeks ago when I was doing research for my online journalism paper about summer fashion trends at a consignment shop, and I absolutely love it! The color is so in for this summer, and I think it really brightens up any wardrobe. Unfortunately, at crab fest today, I bumped into someone, and ended up spilling my apple juice all over myself. It was very upsetting.

Okay, I must get back to work now. Can't wait for this fun weekend to finally start!

Lets go O's!

Shirt: Anne Klein
Shorts: Hollister
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Belt: Gap
As a reward to getting quite a bit of work done this week, me and two of my friends decided to go to an O's game tonight! I wanted to wear something orange, but I found out that I only have one piece of clothing that is orange, and it was something that I wear to work out in. So, I decided I would just stick to black and white, and call it quits.

Either way, I was happy to get off campus with some of my favorite people and get California Tortilla. YUM!

Welcome to Maryland

Tank: Victoria's Secret
Shorts: Hollister
Shoes (borrowed from the roomie): American Eagle
Belt: Gap
Necklace: France
I realize that this is not my most inspiring outfit ever, however, I try to show all the outfits I wear, not just the nice ones. I also realize that this is the first time this month I have worn shorts (how is this possible...) and the fourth time this month that I didn't wear a skirt or a dress. Crazy. However, it's only about 72 degrees here, so that means it's a b-e-a-utiful day. Wrong, folks. Welcome to Maryland, where raising temperatures brings with it humidity that clings to everything. In other words, it is disgusting outside.

So today, I'm sticking with the shorts and tank and trying to stay cool. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be a little nicer out?

A little bit longer...

Cardigan: Delia*s
Dress: Target
Wristlet: Coach
Shoes: Coach
Bracelets: Sergio Lub and Coach
Necklace: Vintage
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you guys all had a good Easter break - I know that I did (recap sometime later this week?)

Anyway, here is another attempt at me getting dressed in the morning. I wish I could be more creative, but this is all I can come up with. I actually want to go even more basic than this; just sun dresses with flip-flops or jeans with t-shirts. I only have a few more weeks before I'm back to wearing my retail uniform, so I am trying to get all the wear out of my sun dresses and jeans that I can! For now, I am just going to try to enjoy the sun that has came out of nowhere. Yay!

300

Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes (borrowed from the roomie): American Eagle
Necklace: Charter Club
Earrings: Charter Club
Belt: Gap
Super casual, but this is what happens when I don't have any inspiration. Every other day this week I have been pretty creative, but this morning I just couldn't do it. Literally, I spent an hour in my towel, pacing between my closet and dresser, trying to think of something to wear. This was the best I could come up. Win some, lose some right?

In other news, this is my 300th post! Holy cow. I'm not quite sure how this happened, but I'm pretty proud of myself. I wasn't really sure I would stick with this blogging thing once I started, but I am really happy that I have! Here's to 300 more. . .?

Intuition

Blazer: Target
Tank: BCBG Max Azria
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Steve Madden
Necklace: Neiman Marcus Last Call
Oh hey pants, nice to meet you too. You know really, I'm more of a dress/skirt kind of person, but for some reason I decided to wear skinny jeans today. Originally, I thought up this outfit late last night, but I envisioned it with my white linen wide-legged trouser pants. I knew it would be the perfect relaxed look. However, I woke up this morning to find that the pants were not in my closet, but are in fact at home. Unfortunately, I had woke up too late to think of a new outfit, so I just decided to go with my trusty jeans. Of course, I choose to wear layers on basically the nicest day in weeks (high of 82), typical!

It's probably for the best that I didn't wear a skirt or dress today, as I ended up going on a late night bike ride with one of my friends around Baker Park and downtown. Intuition, much?

Trompe L'Oeil

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Shirt: Anne Klein
Skirt (worn as dress): Michael by Michael Kors
Shoes: Coach
Wrislet: Coach
Necklace: Vintage
Everyone is here is a French major, right? Or, I assume you all have finished school, and obviously took a couple of French classes so you could read the title of this very post. Yea, I didn't think so. While some of you know that this literally means to "deceive the eye," I know a lot of you probably don't, since everyone seems to take Spanish anymore. So, you're welcome.

I have brought this urgent news to your attention because I know I have deceived you all yet again, with my dress as a skirt trick, and I thought I should point this out. I know you opened my blog today, saw the bottom half of my outfit, and immediately though "What a cute skirt!" or something like that. Actually, you probably thought nothing like that, and just clicked away from my page.

But anyway, I wanted a new way to wear this dress, so I threw this pink cardigan I have been wearing a lot lately right on top. Then, I noticed the collar of my dress was sticking up, so I had to put a black shirt over the dress too, so everything looked just so.I chose pair the pink and zebra with my aqua blue shoes (yet another over worn piece from my wardrobe, as of recent), and wristlet because I love the way the colors pop together.

Unfortunately, the weather was no where near as nice as I thought it was going to be. Thankfully, this outfit brightened my mood, but my shoes (and feet) definitely took a beating. One of these days, I will learn my lesson and pay attention to Weatherbug.

Easter Egg

Cardigan: Nordstrom
Tank: J. Crew
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Wristlet: Coach
Necklace: Neiman Marcus Last Call
I feel like an easter egg today. But, I like feeling like an easter egg. All these colors were the perfect contrast to the gray and dreary skies that covered Hood's campus for the entire day. Plus, all of them are such huge colors for spring - aqua blue, violet, and yellow.

Here's hoping that the weather will warm up for good, blue skies, and no homework (only three more weeks to go)!

Trial and Error

Yet again, I did my nails, and I didn't like how the finished product came out. I started off with Revlon's Cloud, and I love how that turned out! The lilac shade was the perfect shade for spring,  and looked perfect on my short nails.

However, because of my love affair with glitter on my nails, I couldn't just stop with the pastel shade of purple. Of course not. So I added pitch-black-glitter from Nicole by OPI on top. Once I added that, I just didn't  like the outcome. I like both by themselves, but together, they just don't work out. Trial and error, right? Next time I will just stick to straight up glitter. It seems to be the only thing I like anymore. Pin It

Watercolor

Dress: Calvin Klein
Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Belt: Juicy Couture
Shoes: Coach
Wristlet: Coach
Necklace: France
The rain has let up temporarily, and I am going to embrace it for as long as I can! This dress, which I bought last summer, is one of my favorites. It's so colorful and bright, and reminds me of a water color painting. I decided to stick with the blue theme, and paired my dress with a navy cardigan, and my aqua colored wristlet and shoes. With this outfit on, I feel like spring is here to stay for good!

Tickle me pink

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Tank: J. Crew
Shorts: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Wristlet: Coach
Earrings: Body Central
Well, my tripod is still being a pita. However, at least today I was able to manage a couple of shots, even though I do look like a maniac, yet again (though, this is not something I can change, because I was born this way.) Le over dramatic sigh.

Anyway, I'm not sure that I love this outfit as much as I did when I conceptualized it. I saw an outfit relatively similar to this one in an Target ad a couple of months ago, and I knew that I wanted to replicate it whenever I got the chance. And although it did come out looking a lot like the ad, there is just something about it that is just off. I don't know. It's not terrible, it's just not my favorite look ever. However, I am really loving aqua blue and hot pink paired together right now- it's so fresh!

The good and the bad.

Shirt: Victoria's Secret
Scarf: BCBG Max Azria
Skirt: American Eagle
Shoes: Juicy Couture
Earrings: Charter Club
Bag: Kate Spade
Belt: Gap
Lets go over all of the things that are wrong with this photo.
1. It's crooked. My tri-pod was being all sorts of wack today, and would not stay straight so I could tilt my camera 90 degrees! Now, I know this problem could be fixed in Photoshop pretty easily, but I a)don't have photoshop, and b) I don't have time to seriously edit photos as of now. Anyway, I tried to take more photos, but my camera just keep falling to a 45 degree angle, making it very difficult to take a normal shot.

2. My hair is a mess. An hour before this photo, I gave a tour of my campus in the midst of a downpour. Despite having a huge umbrella, my hair got soaked and is as a result completely frizzy.

3. I look demonic. This is not something I can fix, I was born this way.

Now, to the good parts!
1. I wore my rain boots without gravitating towards black, white, or red. I mean, I only chose pink to match with, which isn't very hard, but this is a step up from my usually rainy day colors that I talked about here. It's a good start!

2. My legs look skinny! Maybe working out and eating better this semester is actually working...?

Okay, I think that's all I think. I seriously have get going on some homework if I want to keep taking photos in front of my radiator and stay in college.

Feline Friendly

Shirt: Theory
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale

Earrings: gift
Awhile ago, I saw Jessica from What I Wore wear an outfit very similar to mine today, and knew I instantly wanted to replicate it. However, at the time I did not have a leopard skirt, a chambray shirt, or black knee high boots, so it was basically out of the questions.

So fast forward about two months. I'm in DC with the boy, shopping in Forever 21, and I see this skirt as the deal of the week right at the front of the store (7.50)! Of course, I had to try it on, even though it looked super short. Upon trying it on, I found that it was a little short, but it was super cute and cheap, so how could I resist? So I bought it.

Fast forward another month, and you are at today. I'm digging through my wardrobe, looking for something cute to wear on the first nice day of spring. I see this at the bottom of my draw, tags still on and everything (which I never do), and I couldn't believe I had forgotten about it! I was so excited when I bought it, that I didn't think I would ever forget about it, but apparently I did. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to wear it today, and did my best to match the fabulous Jessica by pairing it with a blue button down, and my classic brown boots. Love it!

However, I have been seriously been considering buying a chambray shirt. They have been popping up in stores everywhere, and I have seen a lot of bloggers putting them together in really unique ways. What do you think- should I get one?

New York, New York

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: BCBG Max Azria
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Bag: Coach
Shoes (not seen): Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Necklace: France
Saturday my boyfriend and I spent the day in New York City (one of my favorite places) exploring the streets, eating lots of yummy food, and seeing Phantom of the Opera. The above photo was taken on sixth ave. where a HUGE street fair was taking place. There were tons of vendors selling costume jewelry, prints, Cd's and lots of ethnic cuisine (like Thai and Mexican)! While browsing, I had to stop and get this:
a mini pecan pie! There was this southern baker selling all kinds of goodies - like sweet potato pie, and bread pudding - and I just couldn't resist from getting something! This snack was the perfect size so I didn't spoil my appetite for dinner. (Also, please excuse my horrendous roots. I realize they are terrible, but I haven't been able to be home when my stylist is-ARG)!

That's all for now - must get back to the mountain that I left in Frederick this weekend. Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Weekend Casz

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: Ralph Lauren Sport
Pants: Mavi
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Gap
Necklace: Neiman Marcus
Hooray, it's Friday! Which, for most college students like myself, is a weekend. As a result, I put together a casual outfit that is cute and comfortable for the rainy weather. However, I really wish I could just throw on some shorts and a t-shirt, but it's definitely not warm enough for that yet.

Today I'm off downtown to conduct some interviews for my online journalism class, and tomorrow it's off to NYC with the boyfriend to see Phantom of the Opera (yay)! Sunday, I'll be participating in a 5K Cupcake walk in downtown Frederick, in addition to copy editing the whole paper and cramming in a bunch of paper. It's going to be a busy weekend, but I'm pretty excited! However, hopefully the weather will clear up (fingers crossed)!

I should rename my blog

Cardigan: Calvin Klein
Dress (worn as skirt): Lilly Pulitzer
Shirt: American Eagle
Camisole: Calvin Klein
Shoes: Steve Madden
Bag: Kate Spade
Earrings: Forever 21
No seriously, I should. Except, I'm pretty sure that you are not allowed to do that, and that my title would be way too long. You see, I really should have named it "daily style of a college girl who wears t-shirts and cardigans over dresses so they look like skirts." Really, I should have named it that. Anymore, that's all I do to put together my outfits.

I'm trying to get the maximum wear out of all my dresses, and the easiest way for my to think of a new outfit combination is to layer t-shirts over my dresses so I can wear them more times (but in a different style). I usually love how it turns out (like today, here, and here), other than the awkward bunching that tends to happen at the bottom.

Before having a fashion blog, this is something I never would have even thought about doing. Usually, I would just throw a jean jacket on for a different look, which I still love to do (here, here, and here) But after seeing so many bloggers have layering work for them, I knew I should try it out for myself.

P.S- This dress seems to inspire me to do a lot of thinking. Look what happened when I wore it last year. Although not all of those things are true, the first two paragraphs are me to a T.

The return of the BCBG brown boots

Shirt: J. Crew
Skirt: Theory
Shoes: BCBGeneration
Scarf: NYC street vendor
Earrings: gift
Belt: Gap
Alright, I think these boots deserve a big round of applause for making it out of the closet. After I got my brown boots from the Delia*s warehouse sale last October, these beautiful boots by BCBG were pushed to the back of the closet, with no hope of ever seeing the light of day again (last seen here). On the other hand, my boots from Delia*s got more and more attention on the blog (as seen here, here, here, and here). I still loved the boots from BCBG, but once I had the option of a brown boot without a heel, I stopped wearing the older boots.

So what made me go back to my former most worn pair of shoes? Well, this morning as I was getting dressed, I went to grab my flat Delia*s boots and stopped in my tracks. In the back of my tiny dorm closet, I saw my brown BCBG boots all the way in the back. I thought about it for a minute, and realized the heel would look so much nicer with this skirt. I knew they would make my legs look so much leaner and longer, whereas the flat boots with this skirt would just make my legs look kind of stumpy. So, I grab the boots, and knew right away I had made the right choice!

Now, I would love to say that you'll be seeing these boots more ofter. However, with the temperatures rising little by little every day, I know that will not be the case, and that my Steve Madden gold gladiator sandals will begin to make a regular appearance on the blog yet again. However, hopefully I will make better use of my closet next fall and winter, and these BCBG boots will see a lot more street time.

Shoes or Shoeless?

Shirt: INC
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Juicy Couture
Socks: Forever 21
Necklace: Nordstrom
Bracelets: Sergio Lub and Coach
I hate how I don't know how to gravitate away from red, black, white, and gray clothing on rainy days. Because my rain boots are in these colors, I don't know how to not wear these colors when I wear my boots. I like to match, so it's hard for me to 'break the rules.' Perhaps that will be a style goal for me; wearing these boots with other colored clothing. I mean how hard could it be? The base is black, so technically they should go with everything. However, I always think they look funny with other colors. So much of my wardrobe is bright, so it is hard to find things that match to my liking. Any tips, fashionistas?

Actually, perhaps I should have just gone sans the boots today. At Hood, and many other colleges and universities across the county, it's "Tom's One Day Without Shoes." Basically, this supports how million of people go without shoes everyday, at risk to disease and infection, and this is a day is to raise awareness of this fact. In my short walk across campus earlier this morning, I spotted many students who had chosen to forgo footwear all together. Personally, I just can't do it. I support those who do it, and I know it's just one day, but I hate dirty feet. I'm just going to leave it at that.

Rainbow Brite

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Juicy Couture
Wristlet: Coach
What better way to welcome 80 degree weather (in Maryland, I kid you not!) than with lots of bright colors? I have been thinking about wearing this outfit for quite some time now, and I am very happy to finally have a chance to wear it. After wearing a lot of neutral colors and outfits this fall and winter, this is just the burst of sunshine that I have been looking for. At the same time, I like that this outfit isn't too overwhelming or crazy- it just has a lot of elements of bright color while still maintaining the preppy vibe I love.

P.S- All the dots on my legs are bug bits marks from my alternative spring break trip in Fort Lauderdale more than three weeks ago...
