Happy Halloween!

Shirt: Anne Klein
Dress (worn as a skirt): Suzy Chin for Maggie Boutique
Shoes: Coach
Necklace: Nordstrom Rack

Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope everybody is doing something fun tonight, or did something fun this weekend! I'm really lame, so I only went out on Thursday night (as Ariel!), and spent the rest of the weekend studying and hanging out with my roomie/lover.

Anyway, in honor of Halloween, I thought I would really get into the festivities by sporting some black and navy blue (ha, I'm so funny). I'm pretty sure this is one of the biggest fashion no-nos, but I don't really care, and I was too tired this morning to think of something more creative. However, paired with some pearls and sequins, it's not too bad of a look.

Other than today though, I really like almost all of my outfits from this month - which is rare. I wore a lot of preppy pieces, so maybe that's what I'm into right now...? I don't know. Let's hope that I am this happy with my outfits by the end of November!

Black and Purple

So when I did my nails for this week, I thought I would stay on track with what I have been doing the past couple of weeks. Solid color on four fingers, glitter all over my ring finger. A winning combination, as so clearly masterminded by Cupcakes and Cashmere.

This weeks combination? Essie's "Licorice" combined with Nicole by O.P.I "One Less Lonely Glitter". Because I had done my nails knowing that I wanted them to match for the dance last weekend (in which I was wearing a black dress,) I knew I wanted to do black as the base. Then, I decided on the purple glitter, not because it matched, but because it is such a fun color!

Unfortunately, black and purple this time of the year are always associated with the Baltimore Ravens (of whom I am not a fan). Thankfully, none of my friends mentioned this fact!

Rainy Day Chic

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Dress: Laundry by Shelli Segal
T-shirt: Hanes
Necklace: Nordstrom Rack
Shoes: Juicy Couture
Socks: Forever 21
Headband: Juicy Couture
Umbrella: Target

It's Thursday which means one thing in mind - it's the weekend (for me at least)! Unfortunately, the weather did not want to reflect this joyous occasion, and it decided to rain. Whatever, I'm in a considerably good mood today, so the rain cannot ruin my parade today!

Anyway, for today's outfit I just wanted to keep it pretty simple, and most importantly, I wanted to stay dry. Of course, my rainboots were an essential part of this, they let me walk through all the big puddles on campus, and still look pretty cute! In addition, I decided to wear this super cute jumper to show off my boots, and a cardigan for an additional warmth. Overall, a super simple, but still put together look. I've said it time and time again, I refuse to look like a slob just because it is raining!

Inspired by...What I Wore

Top: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Skirt: I.N.C
Boots: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Bracelet: Forever 21
Earrings: gift

A big shout out to Jessica of What I Wore for today's outfit inspiration! I saw her wearing something very similar just the other day (okay, almost exactly the same), and now that I have this new chambray shirt, I decided to replicate it!

Like I was saying, this chambray shirt was just one of my fabulous finds from the Delia*s warehouse sale last weekend. I had been on the lookout for one forever, and finally found one that fit perfectly (no gaping between the buttons)! Plus, I couldn't beat the price - $7. Winning.

Since the shirt is so casual, it's the perfect complement to this super sparkly and shiny skirt that I absolutely love! Now I think some people might find sequins too dressy and flashy to wear during the daytime, but I beg to differ. I think when paired with other casual pieces, the two can balance each other out perfectly. Finally, I paired it with some simple jewelry and my classic brown boots to let the skirt steal the show!

Prep with a Twist

Cardigan: Lacoste
Tank: J. Crew
Pants: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Scarf: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Shoes: Anne Klein
Headband: Juicy Couture
Earrings: Charter Club

When I woke up this morning, I just knew it was going to be one of those days. As it was, I was already running late, and I had just woke up! What better way to get yourself out of a funk like that by wearing something super cute.

I started with this baby pink cardigan, which is super soft and perfect for the blustery fall weather. Then, I paired it with my black skinny jeans that I just got at the Delia*s Warehouse sale last weekend. One thing I have always loved about their "Morgan" style pants is that they fit me perfectly. So when I saw this black pair, I knew I had to have them. They are super skinny, and have just the right amount of stretch.

Then, I paired it with my new circle scarf that I also got at the sale this weekend. I love all the different colors, and how it just brings the whole look together. Finally, I added some pearls for the preppy touch I've been craving all this month, and a black leather headband to hold back my unruly hair. Voila! I can now walk out the door with a smile on my face.

Shades of Blue

Blazer: Diane von Furstenberg
Shirt: Theory
Skirt: Theory
Belt (a broken necklace): Claire*s
Shoes: Target

For some reason, I get the impression that this month I wore WAY more preppy ensembles than usual. Now don't get me wrong, I love dressing preppy, but I don't think I usually dress as preppy as I have been this month.

Keeping that in mind, I still love today's outfit! Whenever I am looking for something polished and clean, I started with a tailored button down shirt and fitted blazer. They both suit a women's body perfectly, but because they are fitted, they don't look too manly. I paired it with my super comfortable moccasins and pearls for the ultimate preppy girl look.

A week in iPhone Photos

Well I haven't done one of these in FOREVER! Between finally syncing my iPhone to my new computer, and getting the new iOS5 (I don't even know if that is how you type it...?) I hadn't been able to put pictures from my iPhone on my computer. So without further ado, here is what has been going on according to my iPhone.

One of the BEST things to eat during the fall...a caramel apple!

My friend Hannah and I went on a hike last Sunday, and ended up looking over Frederick. Such a beautiful view on such a beautiful day.

Typical day in the dining hall...I end up laying down on Bridgitte while she's trying to eat.

So when we went to the Delia*s Warehouse Sale this year, my friend Bridgitte tried on what she though was a dress...but it looks like it was actually a romper! Don't you guys hate it when that happens?

Cute As a Button + Set the Stage

When I did my nails this week, I was inspired to use my Sally Hansen "Set the Stage" for about the millionth time this month. But I just can't help it, I love it so much! It adds the perfect amount of sparkle, and the price can't be beat!

I paired it with Essie's "Cute As a Button," which I have always loved, but I like even more with this pairing! Although the it's definitely a summer color, I think it's still okay to wear summer nail colors in the fall/winter. Of course, the deep and moody fall/winter nail polish colors are always fun, but a lively color like this always brightens my mood during the dreariest of days. Pin It

Sailor Girl

Blazer: Diane von Furstenberg
Shirt: J. Crew
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Headband: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: gift
I don't know why wearing breton stripes always makes me feel like I should be on a boat being nautical. Not that I mind, really, but it's just weird.

Anyway, today was relatively chilly, so I layered up with this awesome blazer my mom let me have last year. Although it is probably just a little too small, a beautiful Diane von Furstenberg jacket like this was not worth giving up! I know you can't see this, but their is a super cute bow on the back too. Love it!

If I thought yesterday was bad, I should have known that today would be worst. First, I had my exam at 9:55. Thankfully, I think I killed it, but I was worried about it all morning. Then, off to finish my paper for my photography class, grab a quick lunch, go to my newspaper meeting, and finish my photo portfolio. WHEW. Definitely a long day, but now it's almost over. Tomorrow will be a fresh slate.

Much like yesterday, I wanted to be comfortable, but I still wanted to look polished and put together. Now in my opinion, what's better for that than a super luxurious cashmere cardigan, and some cropped pants. These pants are seriously the BEST. They have the feel, comfort and flexibility of leggings, but they aren't! If you can't tell, I hate it when people where leggings as pants. They aren't pants. But these are! And I love them for that.

To top it all off, I threw on the same belt as yesterday, and a classic pair of pearl earrings. I'm brilliant, am I not? Just kidding. You don't have to answer that.

P.S- Please ignore that too short piece of hair sticking out of my head... embarrassing.

Comfy and Practical

Dress: Bailey 44
Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Belt: stolen from my mom
Earrings: gift

It's Monday and the sun is out! That has to mean good things for the rest of the week, right? Well, I think so.

So, I'm still trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather and my dresses, so I decided on this super soft dress. Layered with a light cardigan and my worn in brown boots, this was outfit was perfect for this nice fall day. Comfort was key here too because I knew that I would be staying up late writing a paper and finishing my midterm photo portfolio. However, there was no way I going to be seen on campus looking like a slob and wearing sweatpants! Thankfully, this outfit got the job done, and my work got done too!

Aruba Blue and Frenzy

Awhile ago, Cupcakes and Cashmere, one of my favorite blogs, did a post about her nails in a very similar style (seen here). Ever since I saw that post, I couldn't wait to try it out for myself! While really a very simple manicure, it's still stands out just slightly from a traditional one color manicure.

Like Emily mentions in her post, the combinations are endless! For my first attempt, I chose Essie's Aruba Blue for most of my nails. It's the most perfect shade of blue, and it was a great jewel tone for the fall. For my ring finger, I chose Sinful Color's Frenzy. It's a mix of magenta and blue glitter, and it added the perfect pop against the deep blue.

It's Friday!

Shirt: Anne Klein
Pants: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Anne Klein
Belt (not seen): Gap
Scarf: Forever 21

Today is Friday - hooray! While I had the BEST of intentions to sit quietly in my room today doing my homework and getting organizing for my midterms next week, it just didn't get done. Whenever you plan a day like that, it never does. Instead, I spent what turned out to be a beautiful day running through the park, getting pumpkin pie frozen yogurt, and going out to eat with my roommates parents. It was the perfect fall day!

As you can probably tell by today's look, it was all about comfort. A super soft 3/4 sleeve shirt, my stretchiest denim, and broken in flats fit the comfort bill perfectly. In addition, my scarf keep me warm from the big gusts of wind without being too bulky.

Stripes and Pearls

Shirt: American Eagle
Pants: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Coach
Belt (not seen): Gap
Necklace: Charter Club

It's raining. Again. What did I tell you guys about only associating this school with rain? Sad, sad, sad.

However, this outfit was a total pick me up for this weather! It combines just a few of my favorite things: pearls, pink, bows, and stripes, into the perfect little preppy outfit. I love it. I feel really polished and clean, and I didn't even put a lot of effort into this outfit. That's a win.

Unfortunately, the khaki pants got pretty wet with the rain, but what can you do? Just try and grin and bare it. At least, that's what I've been telling myself recently.

Now it's time for the weekend - hope you guys have a great one!

Back to the daily grind..

Dress: Miss Sixty
Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Necklace: Lilly Pulitzer
Earrings: Charter Club
Shoes: Coach
Belt: Cole Haan

After a super relaxing FIVE day weekend, I'm back at school! Although I didn't get nearly as much done over the break as I wanted to, I got to spend a lot of time relaxing, hanging out with the family, and going out. My break was much needed, and well deserved, if I do say so myself.

To get back into the swing of things, I decided on this a-line dress that I absolutely love! When I originally bought it, I was only kind of "meh," about it. However, my mom loved it so much that she convinced me to get it...and I am so glad I did! I think I've had it for about a month and a half now, and I've already worn it four times. For a dress, that's a lot wear for me in such a short amount of time!

I paired it with my super soft cream-colored wrap sweater that I finally remembered to bring back from home, and some pretty simple gold Coach flats. Of course, the minute I am back at school it decides to rain...AGAIN. I am beginning to associate this school with one thing - rain. It's really rather sad. I was home all break and had lots of sunshine, but the minute I'm back, the weather brings the rain with it. Lovely.

But enough complaining. I really like this outfit, and definitely can't wait to wear this dress in different ways through the fall and winter!

Holy Glitter!

So last Thursday night when I did my nails, I really wanted to do something fun and different. The past couple of weeks I have mostly been sticking to painting with one solid color, and this week I wanted to mix it up. What better way to do that than with a different colored glittered polish for every nail!

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to go through an all around rainbow like I wanted to, but that's okay. If I had it my way, I would have probably used a pink glitter on my pinkie, and something more green on my thumb. But again, no biggie. So from left to right (of the bottom picture) here is what I used
Index Finger: Henley Regatta by Butter London
Middle Finger: Such a Go Glitter by Nicole by OPI
Ring Finger:One Less Lonely Glitter by Nicole by OPI (and yes, I am embarrassed this is from the Biebs line)
Pinkie: Pitch-Black-Glimmer by Nicole by OPI
(my thumb nail polish is not included because it was borrowed and I don't remember the name)

Now this look may be pretty childish, but I am definitely still a child! I really love how this came out, as it put a smile on my face all week long. Pin It

Lemon Drop

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Kate Spade
Bracelet: Forever 21
Bag: Coach

Today is the first day of fall break - woot woot! Although it only lasts until Tuesday, I am definitely in need of this break. Hopefully, it will give me just enough time to hang out with the family, catch up on some sleep, and write a research paper.

Anyway, for the first day of fall break I decided to wear a cute dress because I am going to see Chicago tonight at a local dinner theater! Now, this dress isn't exactly fall appropriate, but this weekend is supposed to be unseasonably warm, so I am trying to squeeze in a couple of more wears out of my summer dresses while I can. Paired with my trusty jean jacket and some sparkly flats, I thought this was the perfect outfit for a night out with the family!

Dress: Theory
Camisole (not seen): Calvin Klein
Shoes: BCBGirls
Belt: Cole Haan
Wristlet: Coach
Bracelets: Delia*s Warehouse Sale

You know when you think about a piece your closet needs, you kind of add it to your mental shopping list in the back of your head, right? Well, that's what this shirt dress was for a long time for me. I had seen some in magazines, on blogs, and on the streets, and I wanted one SO bad. Such a timeless piece, and I knew my closet (or I), would never rest until I found one.

So the search began. Every time I went shopping, I remembered to stay on the lookout for the perfect shirt dress. The requirements?  Blue (or chambray) colored, not too big or too tight, and roll up sleeves. That's not too much to ask for, right?

Apparently it was, because the search went on for months. Actually, it lasted an entire year. At one point, sometime last April, I had found the perfect one at H&M. However when I tried on the biggest size they had (a 12), I was exploding out the top. Like button bursting exploding. I mean, I know I'm a little bigger than an average person, but I don't think I'm huge by any means. So, that was kind of disappointing.

I basically gave up at that point. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I put it in the back of my mind. Of course, you know that is exactly when it shows up out of nowhere. This summer, I was browsing the skimpy sale section at Bloomingdale's at the Short Hills Malls, and saw the dress I'm wearing today. It was PERFECT. Of course, there was only one, and it was a size 12. Again, slightly bigger than I'm used to wearing, but I had to try it.

Turns out, it fit perfectly. Thank goodness, it was on sale. In addition, it was missing the belt (I could tell by the belt loop in the back), and the sales girl gave me an additional 10 perfect off. Such a win.

Okay, so that's the really long and unnecessary story about how I got this dress. Isn't it just preptacular? I love it, and I am so happy I was finally able to wear it today! Ever since I had bought it, I had known I wanted to wear it with straight hair, a skinny brown belt, and my brown heeled boots. It's the perfect outfit for fall, and it was finally possible to wear today with the beautiful weather going on.

What do you guys think? What are you on the hunt for right now? Pin It

Wearing dresses as skirts

Shirt: Anne Klein
Dress (worn as a skirt): BCBGirls
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Necklace: Lilly Pulitzer
Headband: Juicy Couture

I'm not wearing a button down today! Honestly, I'm pretty impressed that I was even able to put this together. I woke up two hours late today, jumped in the shower, threw on an old t-shirt and jeans, made-up the survey I needed in 10 minutes for my departmental honors meeting at 10:30, and ran out the door. Definitely not my best look.

Thankfully, I don't have a real class until 2 p.m., so after my meeting I came back and got dressed for real. Today is for once a beautiful day outside, so I wanted to wear something to embrace it - I know I won't be able to do that for much longer! So I decided on one of my favorite summer dresses. It's super comfortable, and the color is really different than any of the other stuff I own. To keep the outfit school appropriate, I layered on this 3/4 length sleeve shirt so I could wear the dress more like a skirt, which I love doing. For a finishing touch, I added some black and gold accessories.

What do you guys think? What do you wear when you're in a rush?
