In a Rush

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Dress: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Nordstrom Rack

Remember that nice weather that I raved about all yesterday? Gone. It poured almost all day today, and the skies never showed a glimpse of the sun. Not that I would have known that at 4:15 this morning when I left for my internship, but no matter. At least I had my boots to keep me dry!

Anyway, I kept things pretty casual today, with just a simple blue dress and this coral color cardigan. I love wearing all these bright colors against the sea of grays and blacks on campus - it just puts me in a better mood. Finally, I just added my strand of pearls and a skinny belt to finish things off. What do you guys think?

Monday Ramblings

Dress: Calvin Klein
Necklace: Juicy Couture
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Bracelet: vintage

It's a mere two days before December, and it's 72 degrees outside. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. But it sure is weird going bare-legged at the end of November, not wearing a coat, and not being cold. Again - I'm not complaining. I'm actually really happy about the weather, but it only proves that global warming is completely real.

So anyway, in honor of this gorgeous weather, I decided to bare my legs and my arms for possibly the last time this year with this new sweater dress I got at Tysons a couple of weeks ago. It's one of those kind of dresses that perfectly hugs my body, no matter what way I move.

To finish my simple look, I paired it with my classic brown boots and some gold jewelry. Instant classic.

Side note - does anyone know what color this dress is? I've been trying to figure it out with my friends all day, but have yet to make a decision. We're having a hard time deciding between olive, dark khaki, or brown. What do you guys think?

Aruba Blue and Starry Silver Glitter

There's no doubt in my mind that Essie's "Aruba Blue" is one of my favorite nail colors. It's matches my schools blue perfectly, it only requires two coats, and it works during any season. So, when I decided to wear the cutest royal blue BCBG Max Azria dress to the dance last week, I knew that this shade would match perfectly.

However I didn't want to just do solid nails, so I added NYC's "Starry Silver Glitter" to my ring finger. Okay, so this isn't much different then how I have been doing my nails the last couple of weeks, but it's something. Anyway, I have never used this glitter before, but I really like it. I imagine it would take about four or five coats to  get all over glitter, but it's perfect as a layering polish. Filled with small silver glitter and blue and purple hexagon pieces, it adds just enough sparkle.

Cheers to Thanksgiving Break!

Sweater: Lilly Pulitzer
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Earrings: Charter Club
Scarf: gift

It's Tuesday which means one thing...Thanksgiving break! As of 3:50 p.m. I am free, and I cannot wait to get out of here!

Of course, it was another miserable day outside. However, I decided to wear bright colors just to show the rain it can't put a damper on my day. This blue and green combination was perfect for just that purpose and complement each other PERFECTLY. Okay, maybe they are colors that are more typically reserved for summer, but who cares? We should break the rules (well, the fashion ones at least).

So close..

Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Bandolino
Belt: stolen from mom

So today I let someone borrow my memory card for my nice camera, so I'm stuck using my little point and shoot which I have no tripod for. I actually wasn't going to take a picture at all, but I hate the idea of not taking a picture of an outfit I like, so I did anyway.

It was drizzly and cold day, so I tried to perk up my room with some bright purple tights and a cute leopard belt. I think it takes this simple wool dress to the next level, without being too much for classes.

Side note - I am SO ready for Thanksgiving break. I need to get off campus for a couple of days to clear my head for upcoming finals, so this break couldn't come at a better time.

Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

Last week while browsing the aisles of my local Target, I stumbled upon this super glittery polish from Sally Hansen. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to get it (even though I have been trying to cut down on the money I spend on nail polish until I actually finish a bottle). However, at just $2, the price couldn't be beat, so I bought it.

Now while I love the color, I can't say too much about the quality itself. I really wanted the full on glitter look, and was able to easily achieve it with about three coats, which was awesome! However, only one day later, I was having the polish come off in whole pieces! All this week, I would re-do individual nails daily because I wanted my nails to look nice. Honestly, I don't really think it's because this is poor quality polish, because I have tried doing full on glitter with other brands and the same thing has happened. So, my best tip to prevent this is to paint a solid coat of any color under the glitter, then do full coverage with glitter. I just don't think glitter is meant to stay on the nails on it's own.

Anyway other than that, the polish was great! There are all different flecks of colors (like magenta, blue, gold, and red), and when they catch the light, my nails just sparkle. Honestly, the pictures don't do justice at all.

What do you guys think? Have any of you had similar experiences when you painted your nails with full on glitter?

Casual Thursday

Shirt: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Tights: DKNY
Shoes: Bandolino
Bracelets: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Happy Thursday everyone! It's raining yet again, so today called for another simple and no-fuss outfit that would be comfortable throughout the day.

I decided to start with this chambray shirt that I am in love with. I wasn't sure how often I would wear one if I ever were to purchase one, but I wear this all the time! So this was definitely a great buy. I paired it with this high waisted black skirt, black tights, and my new black boots. This outfit definitely doesn't require a lot of thinking, but it's a lot nicer looking than sweats and a t-shirt.

Plum and Leopard

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Guess
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Belt: stolen from my mom
Earrings: gift

I'm loving today's outfit! My hair...not so much, but my outfit is definitely a win.

I started with this new dress that I got over the weekend at Tyson's. I love the rich plum color of it paired with the little gold buttons on the side. The dress is really so simple, but so elegant at the same time. Then, I switched the purple sash it had came with for a leopard print belt. Although I wasn't sure it was going to work, I think it looks much better than the belt it came with it.

Finally, I added my new brown leather boots which I LOVE. I've been wearing my brown boots that I got from the Delia*s warehouse sale for over a year now, and they show it. The leather over my feet has cracked, the soles are splitting, and the heels are completely worn down. So, when I saw these super soft brown boots on sale while shopping this weekend, I knew I had to have them. I know they will be the perfect complement to the rest of my fall wardrobe. Pin It

Blair Waldorf Wannabe

Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Skirt: Theory
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Coach
Earrings: Charter Club
Today't outfit inspiration: Blair Waldorf (season 1) of Gossip Girl. The past couple of days I have been re-watching all of the old episodes, and have been really into the fashion on the show. This is totally something Blair would have worn in the first season. It's super preppy and school girl chic, which is so reminiscent of old Blair. The only thing I'm missing is a headband, but it just wasn't working out with my hair today. Oh and a pearl necklace. But I wasn't feeling that either. C'est la vie.

I'm really loving these tights, btw. Of course, after never wearing them the entire year I have had them, I have worn them twice in a week. So, it just figures that they got a long run in them by the end of today. Just my luck!

Thank you Pinterest.

Necklace: Lilly Pulitzer

I owe all credit for this outfit to my favorite procrastinating tool, Pinterest. Here's the photo that inspired it all:

Okay, so it's not an exact match, and there is no way that I look as cool as that girl...but I think it's a pretty close match! Plus, it gave me an excuse to wear my sequin skirt, which I am always trying to do. You see, the one bad thing about this skirt being so unique is that it is fairly obvious when I wear the same outfit combination with the skirt. So, I'm on a mission to wear it as many different ways as I can. So far, so good.

Anyway, I love this outfit. I feel glamorous, but still classroom appropriate. It can be hard to wear sequins during the daytime, but I think this combination is casual enough to wear during the day. And oh! How can I forget to mention my new boots? Well, when I went shopping at Tyson's with my mom on Friday, I spotted these great leather riding boots on sale. I've been looking for a black pair of riding ones for awhile, so when I saw these I got really excited. I love that they are roomy enough to tuck jeans into, and that they have zippers on the side so they can easily be put on. I can't wait to wear these through the winter - there are endless possibilities!

New Favorite

Dress: L.K Bennett
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Coach
Necklace: vintage
An outfit post...on a Sunday. No, you guys aren't a day early, I actually wore this today and am posting about it today. A miracle, I tell you.

Anyway, you may be wondering why I am all dressed up on a casual Sunday. Usually, Sundays are my grunge days, since they are spent at the gym and doing homework in my room (hence the lack of outfit posts over the weekends). However, today there was a scholarship dinner for all the students who received financial aid from alumni, and it's expected that everyone will dress nicely. Of course, any excuse to get dressed up, I'll take it.

So, I decided on this new dress I got shopping at Tyson's this weekend. When I saw the dress in Bloomingdales and looked at the label, I was surprised that I had never heard of it. I don't think I'm a brand snob by any means (although others may disagree), seeing as I'll wear any brand at least once. However, I am partial to certain brands, and am always curious to get a sense of certain brands style. So, seeing a brand name I didn't recognize at all threw me off at first. However, upon further research I found out this brand is quite popular across the pond (even with Kate Middleton!), though it's just gaining popularity over here.

After trying on this dress though, I think I have found a new favorite brand. I knew right away that this dress was beautiful - it is impeccably tailored, has a great pattern, and is made of the finest silk. Once I tried it on though, I was in love. It hugs my figure in just the right places, and makes me look about a thousand times better than I actually do.

I kept trying to add other accessories like belts and cardigans to amp up this outfit, but nothing was working. So, for a finishing touch, I paired it with some hot pink tights (although they look magenta in the photos), and a vintage crystal necklace. In my opinion, this is truly one of the cases of less is more.

Trombone + Gettin' Miss Piggy With It

I am so so SO excited about my nails this week. Like more than I have been in a really long time. Let's just look at what we have going on - glitter. Lots of awesome, sparkly glitter that will be perfect during the holiday season (like Christmas) or right now!

What am I talking about? I'm talking about OPI's newest collaboration: the Muppet Collection. Ever since it was announced, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it (literally)! Usually with the new collections, I think they are really cool, but I usually don't end up buying any of the colors. However, with this collections, when I saw the six glitters, I knew I had to get at least one. So when I saw the collection available while shopping last weekend, I bought two. The first one I tried was "Gettin' Miss Piggy With It," a red glitter with hexagon pieces and little smaller glitters. It's a clear base, so I applied one thin coat of Essie's "Trombone" to get the ruby red slipper look featured above - and I love it!!

I'm so happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to show you guys the other one I bought. Stay tuned...

Cashmere Sweaters and Riding Boots

Sweater: Banana Republic
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Necklace: Vintage
Belt (not seen): Gap

It's beginning to feel more and more like fall every day, which means two things - cashmere sweaters, and riding boots. Much like Ralph Lauren button downs, whenever I don't know what to wear, these are two classic fall staples that always look polished and classy. However, I did notice today that the soles of my boots are beginning to tear...I will have to look for a new pair soon.

For a special touch, I added this vintage crystal necklace that I got from my grandma. When the light catches it in a certain way, there is just the prettiest sparkle.

And with that, my weekend has begun! Hope you guys have a great one!

Interview Appropriate

Blazer: Target
Top: Rebecca Taylor
Skirt: BCBG Max Azria
Shoes: Coach
Necklace: Betsey Johnson

So today I had an interview with one of the big top 40 stations in the DC/Metro area. I'll find out in about a two weeks if I got it, so keep your fingers crossed for me! The interview went really well today, so I'm staying hopeful.

Anyway, so I needed something that would still look nice after my hour long drive, and that I wouldn't mind wearing until 9 tonight. This silk top (which is one of my favorites), combined with this simple black skirt and pumps fit the bill perfectly. They always say that when you have a big interview or a date or anything like that, you should wear something that you feel comfortable in. So, I try to follow that whenever I can. That way, when your at your important event, you aren't worried about your clothes - you're just focused on the task at hand.

All American

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: American Eagle
Skirt: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Earrings: Charter Club

Okay I'm pretty sure this outfit is the perfect example of all American girl. Pearl stud earrings, navy blue and white stripes, red, and a denim jacket. Together, I feel comfortable with what I am wearing, but feminine and pretty at the same time.

I think that a lot of times people think that you can only wear red, white, and blue on the fourth of July, but I disagree. When worn together, I think they complement each other perfectly, while still looking fresh and preppy. What are your thoughts?

Cargo Overkill

Jacket: Tahari
Shirt: Juicy Couture
Camisole (not seen): Calvin Klein
Pants: Delia*s
Shoes: Target
Bracelets: Coach and Sergio Lub

So...this may or may not be the third time this month that I have worn this jacket. The last couple of mornings as I have been getting ready, I see in my closet, try it on, and am pleasantly surprised to see how well it goes with everything. This outfit is no exception. What would just be a cute t-shirt and dark skinny jeans is taken up a notch by this jacket.

Maybe this will become a replacement for my trusty jean jacket...only time will tell!

Henley Regatta and Black Shatter

This week when I did my nails, I actually decided to do something different! I have been doing the same thing for the past couple of weeks, and I finally got sick of it. But of course, because this me, I still couldn't resist glitter.

I started with Butter London's "Henley Regatta" as my base, and I love how it turned out. Although it took three coats to get the full on glittered look that you see above, I didn't want to take the chance of having any bare spots of my nails. Then, I added the OPI's black shatter on top. At first, I wasn't sure that I wanted to put the shatter on top, because I liked how the glitter looked so much on it's own (I seriously couldn't stop staring at my glittery nails). However, I'm glad I did! I think it's a super fun look that is the perfect combination of girly me, and badass me.

What do you guys think? Any ideas for nails this week?

Perfect fall look

Jacket: Tahari
Dress: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Shoes: BCBGirls
Necklace: Last Call Neiman Marcus

I am loving this outfit... A LOT. Maybe it's the softness of the fabric, the cut of the dress, the cargo green paired with the royal blue and aquamarine, or maybe it's something else. Either way, a great fall look. It was a sunny 60 degree day, and the sun felt great on my bare legs.

This dress was another one of my great finds at the Delia*s warehouse sale - just $12! I love how simple it is, and I know that it's going to look really nice with a lot of other colored jackets and jewelry. I also decided to wear this jacket for the second time this week, and think it looks great. I was originally going to wear a coral colored cardigan, but for some reason the I think the green looks better. Maybe because it is more of a fall color? I don't know.

Now it's time for the weekend - woohoo!

Black & White

Shirt (gift): Forever 21
Pants: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Bracelet (gift): Forever 21
Shoes: Anne Klein
Earrings: gift

A busy day call for basic pieces with special details. For example, this cream colored top.with lace on the front, and a keyhole on the back with little pearl buttons. Or these shoes: basic back flats with a gold zipper flower embellishment. Paired with my new favorite piece in my wardrobe, these black skinny jeans, I felt put together and cute.

Unfortunately, I was not doing so well with white today. By dinner, I had already dripped butter from my bagel and salsa from quesadilla on it. Thanks to Tide-to-go it wasn't a huge deal, but I think I will stick away from wearing white tomorrow.

New Cargo Jacket

Jacket: Tahari
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Pants: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Charter Club
Belt (not seen): Gap

I got this jacket this summer, and this is the first time I am actually wearing it! That seems to happen to me all the time. I buy something that I really like, and then I don't wear it for months. I think in this case it was because this jacket just feels like a fall piece to me, but I'm not really sure. Either way - I love it, and can't wait to pair it with more options.

This time, I decided to go with a really casual route. Plain white button down, dark skinny jeans, and basic brown loafers. When I don't know what to wear, this is the easiest way to go, but it still looks put together! People always say that's it so easy to put on sweatpants and a t-shirt, but I'm telling you, this is equally easy! More importantly, this looks 100 times better. For a finishing touch, I added a pair of pearls stud earrings and a pearl necklace.

What do you guys think?
