Peach Crush

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Theory
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Necklace: Erickson Beamon for Target

I don't think I can say it enough: but coral is MY color this year. Actually, anything within the red/peach/coral/orange/tangerine/salmon range is MY thing. So find your own color ladies.

I've actually had this dress for over a year and this is the first time I'm wearing it! I guess it's just one of those things when it feels right. Unfortunately since it's still chilly, I paired it with a denim jacket. Then, finished up with my favorite necklace and simple sandals.

Welcome to the 50s! pt.2

Cardigan: Calvin Klein
Dress: Jessica Simpson
Shoes: Target
Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

When I saw this dress two weeks ago while shopping at Tyson's, I knew I had to have that. Now if you know me, that's not like me at all. I am most certainly not an impulse shopper in the slightest. However, this was different. Immediately after I tried it on, I was buying it.

But how could I resist? I love something that has a retro/pin-up feel - and this did that for me! Now, I could have tamed it down and gone without the cherry red lipstick and fake keds. But, sometimes it's just kind of fun to be someone else. So today, I was 50s girl.

Unfortunately, it was way too cold for this dress. But. that's what happens when you're stubborn, and you're going to award ceremony and you insist on wearing a dress even though it's 40 degrees outside. So you throw on a cardigan, slap on a smile, and quit complaining. There could be worse things in life, right?

Off Duty Ballerina

Shirt: Juicy Couture
Camisole: Gap
Pants: J.Crew
Shoes: Minnetonka
Bag: Longchamp
Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

I've done plenty of structured writing for tonight. I think I'll just do this post in bullets.

1. My look was dubbed "off duty ballerina," several times today. I know you can't see it, but I have this cool braid/bun thing going on. It's really pretty cool - and I actually did it myself! And, I think this is the first title in awhile that I haven't minded.

2. These are NOT leggings!! I don't wear leggings, ever. These are J. Crew minnie pants. Unlike leggings/jeggings, whatever, my PANTS have a real working zipper, and belt loops. Things that leggings do not have.

3. My shirt is really neon pink! I know in the photos it doesn't look very intense, but in real life, it's the brightest, most obnoxious, fluorescent neon pink. And I love it!

4. Note to self: don't wear suede moccasins when it's going to rain all day.

Happy Monday all! I'm hoping to be back on a regular posting schedule again.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: Victoria's Secret
Skirt: James Perse
Belt: Juicy Couture
Earrings: gift
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe

I would typically describe my style as a mix of things - preppy, chic, and casual. However, one word I would never use to describe my style is bohemian. I'm too much of a type-a personality to just let go, and live. Or whatever. As of recent though, I've been loving maxi! Now you don't have to tell me that I'm about two years behind. I know (I'm used to this).

Within the last year, I've bought two maxi dresses, and now this skirt! I saw it while doing some shopping last weekend, and fell in love with basic black and super soft fabric. Plus, I'm allowed to eat whatever I want all day, AND I don't have to worry about shaving. How did I never want everything maxi before?

Anyway, for the first time wearing this skirt, I decided to keep everything pretty simple - a basic gray crew neck tee, plain sandals, a skinny blue belt, and my trusty denim jacket. After pulling my hair back though, I realized I really needed some earrings to pull everything together. These long peacock feather earrings did just the trick! The perfect pop of fun and whimsy.

Pretty Professional

Dress: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Necklace: Lauren Ralph Lauren
Belt: off a dress at a thrift store
Shoes (not seen): Steve Madden Luxe

WOAH! Check out these sweet photos of me. Love them!

So you know that huge paper I'm always talking about? Yea if you write one at my school, it's kind of a big deal. In my department (communications), I'm the only senior writing one this year. Anyway, at the end of the year we do a big presentation on our papers, and to promote it, profiles of all of us are put on the school's website. Today, I had my picture taken for the website and I LOVE how them came out!

For this occasion, I was not allowed to wear black, and was instructed to wear vibrant colors (since they show up best). I decided on different shades of blue, since they complement my pale skin tone very well. Unfortunately, you can't see my shoes in the shots, but you get an idea of how I look, right? Pin It

Welcome to the 50s!

Shirt: Anne Klein
Skirt: Aqua
Shoes: Target
Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

I'm super behind on posting..again. I'm certain it's going to get better within the next week. Once I am done my presentation (Friday) and have turned in my paper (the 30th) I'm home free! Can't wait. Until then, just bare with me.

Today I decided to wear this new skirt I got at Tysons. Although I originally wasn't sure about it, my mom convinced me to get it. It's very reminiscent of the 50s, don't you think? Of course it doesn't help that I played that factor up by wearing pearl earrings, fake keds, and a silk ribbon in my hair, but I can't help getting like that sometimes.

Coral Fever

Shirt: Delia*s Warehouse Sale
Camisole: Gap
Shorts: J.Crew
Shoes: Sperry
Necklace: Claire*s

I know these shorts may appear orange, but they are actually the prettiest shade of coral! I couldn't help but notice recently that I have been wearing a ton of coral - it's definitely my color. And around this time of the year, I don't think that anything could be more appropriate.

To keep in line with my relatively preppy outlook, I paired these shorts with gold Sperry's, a double-stranded pearl necklace, and my favorite chambray shirt. Even though it was way too cold to be wearing an outfit like this today, it was honestly the only thing I could think of! Other than it being too cold, I loved this outfit! Super preppy and cute for a day spent sitting in class.

Cardigan: Lilly Pulitzer
Dress: Laundry by Shelli Segal
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Earrings: American Eagle

The weather is forecast for this week is supposed to be all over the place (hot, cold, windy, raindy, etc). However, today was one of the few nice days, so I wanted to take full advantage of it.

As I was getting dressed this morning, I couldn't help but think back to the last time I wore this dress, which was a little more than two years ago. Which, it just proves a point that if you don't wear something in six months, you may wear it again. Usually, I totally agree with that rule, but there can be exceptions. Anyway, it's just crazy to think about how much time has gone by, and what has changed since then. However, if there is one thing that hasn't changed, it's that I am definitely as pale as ever! I guess you can say I've been a little nostalgic with my looming graduation quickly approaching.

This time, I decided to wear this navy blue dress it a little different. Although today was a nice day, it wasn't nearly as nice out as that day two years ago, so a cardigan was a must! Finally, with the addition of a skinny gold belt and some simple earrings, I was ready to go!

Grey Area and Happy Birthday

Because I've been so busy this semester, I haven't exactly had time for weekly manis. Finally, as this week was winding down I had an opportunity. I decided to go with Sally Hansen's Grey Area and Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday. I just love the juxtaposition of the flat gray (with Essie's Matte about You over it) against the sparkly glitter. Although these aren't exactly summer nails, I still love the look!

As time goes by

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Coach

I know, go ahead and yell at me. This jacket has been making a ton of appearances on the blog this week. Truthfully, it goes with anything, and is perfect for days that it is just too cold to walk around with bare arms. So, please forgive.

Anyway, last time I wore this dress, things were completely different. It was nearly eight months ago, and the first day of school. I remember being so excited to put on this dress. Not only did I love the look of it, but it represented the beginning of the end. Now, I'm weeks away from graduation, I've written 65 pages of my honors paper, and I'm constantly applying for jobs. It's crazy to see how much things change in a year.

Shades of Purple

Jacket: DKNY
Shirt: BCBGeneration
Pants: Naf Naf
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe
Earrings: gift

Alright so I can't tell a lie - I'm a little behind on posting. I've been taking outfit photos per usual, but with my paper, I haven't had any spare time to write the posts. So, that's why I'm here on a Friday night telling you about Wednesday outfit.

I've worn this outfit several times before (although maybe not on the blog..) and have always loved how it looks. The Grecian style tank with the colored skinny jeans provides and unexpected but interesting take on a traditional jeans and tank look. I also added my trusty denim jacket, because for whatever reason it had dropped to the low 50s. I want my warm weather back!

Statuesque and Regal

Jacket: DKNY
Dress: Rachel Pally
Shoes: BCBG Max Azria
Earrings: American Eagle
If I had to choose two words to best describe how I looked today, I would choose statuesque and regal. I can't help but sounding egoistical, but I felt hot today! This dress just works on my body - I don't know how to describe it other than that.

I was originally drawn to this dress last summer because of the color (I'm telling you, I've been having such a thing for coral this year)! Anyway, then I picked it up and felt it - so soft! Plus, I love an unfinished hem on this kind of material, it makes the dress flow better. So then I tried it on, and surprisingly loved it! I say surprisingly because I don't typically wear maxi dresses. I'm super picky about them. They have to go to the floor. Like swooping the floor, not brushing my feet. I'm pretty tall (5'8") so to find a maxi dress that fits this criteria can be kind of tricky. But sometimes it happens, and I couldn't be happier with my result.

I kept the rest of my look simple, just adding my favorite denim jacket and brown leather sandals. A perfect outfit for a day spent in classes, and as an additional bonus, it allows me to eat whatever I want! Pin It
