Bacon Cheddar Drop Biscuits


The basis for this recipe is crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and fresh green onion. How can these possibly not be delicious? Honestly, I'm not much of a bread baker (actually anything with yeast, count me out), so I was slightly intimidated by this recipe for drop biscuits. But, they sounded so delicious, and I had all the ingredients on hand, so last weekend I decided to make them. Thankfully, I was able to follow the recipe with no problems, and they turned out perfectly. Crumbly, salty, and delicious. Here's what you'll need to whip these up:

Ingredients
-2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
-2 1/2 tsp baking powder
-2 tsp sugar
-3/4 tsp of baking soda
-1 tsp salt
-6 tbsp cold unsalted butter
-1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
-2 green onions, chopped
-1 cup of milk
-3 tbsp butter, melted

1. Preheat your over to 450 degrees F. Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray, set aside.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix in chunks of cold butter with your fingertips, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the cheddar cheese, green onions, and bacon. Add milk, and stir until combined.

3. Drop spoonfuls of dough, about two large tablespoons, onto the baking sheet. Brush the biscuits with melted butter. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
